Been fighting with Best Buy all day today.

Bought my PDA there about 5 months ago. This morning the screen went dead. No problem, I purchased the product replacement service when I bought the PDA. According to the plan I just need to take it in and the will provide a new one on the spot. RIGHT!

Instead of a new PDA all I got was 5 hours of runaround and double talk. Went all the way to the store manager with no satisfaction. I even sat there and listened to a saleman tell another customer all the benefits of the replacement plan and sure enough the guy stated that if ANYTHING goes wrong with the PDA that they will replace it on the spot no questions asked. I promptly imformed the customer that that was a flat out lie. I told everyone within earshot what just happened to me and not to believe their lies. I then dragged the saleman to the managers office along with the customer he was speaking to and confronted him on the lie. The salesman denied making the claim and the manager said he did not believe that his sales staff would make such a claim. Even with the customer backing up my claim they refused to admit to the lie. They about died when I showed them the digital mic sticking out of my vests collar (unfortunatly I forgot to turn on the recorder :o  ).

So stay away from Best Buy. They lie to customers and refuse to stand by their warrentees.

Just for general info the store info is

Frank J. Diaz
Sales Manager
Best Buy Westmenster
500 Westminster Mall Road
Westminster CA 92683

District Manager
14395 Pipeline Ave
Chino, CA 91710

They refused to give me the district managers phone# but you can be sure that a letter of disgust will be sent out in the next couple days.

On the good news side. I contacted HP directly and they are sending out a box for me to ship it in for repairs and I should have it back in about 5-7 days.

Man folks complain about my customer service and all I am guilty of is being slow to return phone calls. Best Buy has me beat hands down.

Did end up getting my money back on the replacement service at least.

I think they have all their sales people lie, for example
signing you up for MSN without your permission.

You can call the corprate number and they will open a ticket,
but that's also useless. I've tried it.

Did you know all their IT people are now or soon to be located to India?

Did you pay by credit card, I'd call the card co.
and see if they can reverse the charges because they
fail to honor the warraty.

and while you were spending a quality afternoon at Best Buy YOUR customers were waiting for you to make, ship, or call them about thier knife..like you have all the time in the world for that crap...Im sorry for your experience dude..thats why I never buy that "extended warranty" kaa kaa..I live dangerously..

R.W.- I just had a very similar experience when trying to get a printer I bought with extended warranty replaced. It seems the warranty is really from a third party and Best Buy didn't want to be involved and wouldn't refund the warranty money even though they failed to honor it. I was very displeased even after trying to work with a manager. I wouldn't take the friggin' warranty anymore if they gave it to me... :barf:

Yup, bought it for a televison that shiit the bed in January.

Finally gave up on the 'extended warranty" that states :"if it cannot be repaired it will be replaced blah, blah, blah"

BULLSHIIT!!!!!

I just bought the replacement at Circuit City...............

My experience with Best Buy has been the exact opposite. I purchased a computer, with extended warranty, while I was living in California. The sound card died (twice) here in Roanoke, while covered by the extended warranty. The computer was fixed without any argument or evasion; in fact, they put in an upgraded sound card the second time.

Of course, it could just be due to the fact that I'm in southwest Virginia, which is a completely different world than California in some ways.

Personally i have decided that extended warranties are worthless. Buy from reputable manufacturers who stand by their product and sleep easy. As was mentioned in the first post even though Best Buy failed to do anything HP stood by their product. And i bet they would have done so regardless of any "extended warranty" crap.
