Alright, folks. We all use knives for different things. One place where a sharp and thin blade shines is cutting off an annoying callus. Sure, maybe some of you don't get these. Maybe some of you keep ahead of the curve with some kind of filing, sanding, pumice situation, etc. (Even if you don't, you might have seen the products for this at the drug store.) Maybe some of you are icked out and don't want to talk about it but for the rest of us, it's a part of life.

So I have to ask. Which knife works best for you?

For foot work, I've come to prefer less belly. My favorites have been the Tangram Santa Fe, the Petrified Fish PF-719, and the Wharncliffe Dragonfly.

That's what Corn Knives were made for.

I'm sorry.
I guess I kinda forgot to answer the o.p.
The only calluses I ever really notice or take the time to remove are on the tops of my thumb toes. I don't know why but those toes grow armor on top! Lol.
I don't have a dedicated blade for the purpose, but the smaller blades on a Vic sak work well.

If you cut off your calluses, how do you walk on sharp rocks barefoot?

Some callus is helpful. Some is not. Sometimes, a callus can get too big or stick out in the wrong direction. A larger callus can also be prone to drying out and cracking. Cracks in calluses can trap dirt or fibers and generally be unsanitary. As the tissue flexes differently around the crack in a callus, it can also apply damaging force to the live skin underneath.

So affected people often cut or "shave" a callus as needed. Podiatrists routinely do this with a scalpel. r8shell r8shell shared a historical corn knife above. There are modern versions that use replaceable blades. Since I'm into EDC blades and always have a sharp one handy, that's what I use. Some people might consider this a gross topic but I'm willing to bet a fair number of us here have done this or other self-maintenance stuff with their pocket knives. I just thought this lowly topic needed a thread.

This thread really need some close-up pictures and maybe a video or two ! 🤣

I use some heavy duty nail clippers , similar to this video :

The joke in Always Sunny is that Frank is using a kitchen knife to trim his toenails. This sometimes leads to a "botch toe".

No matter how sharp a knife is, I still recommend clippers for nails.
I agree..... hopefully my suggestion was known to be joking....😁

Huh......Thanks for solving that mistery for me. I always wondered how that blade shape was used to shuck or de-kernel corn.

I've also seen an agricultural knife called a "corn knife" that's more like a straight edged machete. One wouldn't want to confuse the two!:D

The struggle is real, my feet used to callous bad, like shaving small potato chips off your big toe bad.

Cue the vomit emojis...
