best carbon mora knife

they two i am debating on is the carbon 511 and the carbon companion, i like that the companion has a slightly longer blade but i have heard good things about the grind on the 511

They both have the same grind style. However, the 511 has thinner blade stock. The thinner 2mm 511 blades are ground to about 23° total angle, the thicker 2.5mm blade on the Companion is ground to 27° total.

I have a soft spot for the 510 Allround, which used to be the cheapest Mora this side of a Bahco until Mora discontinued it, then brought it back at a higher price in response to popular demand. Apparently, they had to retool for it, which I guess justifies the higher price, which is more than a 511, but less than a Companion. The blade looks to be a couple of mm longer than a 511, while shorter than the Companion by about the same amount. Coincidence? I have no idea.
The one-piece black plastic handle looks cheaper than the 551 with its colorful inserts, but not quite as cheap as the old red handled 510. I don’t know if the hipsters have designated a favorite Mora, but I should think that the bare-bones minimalism and the relative obscurity of the 510 would put it in the running.

Ragweed Forge carries both laminated and non laminated Mora high carbon blades. Fit your own handle. You might also consider Helle's Viking model in laminated high carbon steel.

The Companions are always a great value. While I couldn't justify keeping it, the Bushcraft Black had my favorite handle.

I love the 510. I got the BPS Knives sheath for it, soaked it and wet formed it to the knife, and added a danger to it. Great for all sorts of work.

Companion is hard to beat and easy to replace. Garberg is good for doing stupid things ( abusing ).

I won't vote for a classic! I don't like the barrel shape! Even though I like the companion, I find that everything is plastic, too bad the blade is not stainless steel.(plastic is stable in wet conditions so is the stainless) So since I like leather and wood my solution was to buy a blade online and mount it myself on a pukko style handle
