Best cheap bowie knife

btw, my 2nd choice would be the KaBar Bowie followed by the Ontario in a close 3rd, but the Becker is the BEST of the three

If you want no-nonsense, best bang for the buck, go for a Cold Steel Bushman. Waaaay better quality than a KaBar and about half the price.

The lack of a real handle may not be your cup of tea though, but I fixed mine up with grip tape.

BWAhahahahahahahahah. that is hilarious:rolleyes:

That is funny as hell!!!

He must have been joking about it being better then a Becker.

If he wasn't, the man must not know his knives.:p

IMHO The kabar BK 9 would out last the cold steel bushman for many many decades to come.

My vote is for the CTD hard use bowie. Buy several - camping, tool box, car trunk, etc. For the price, you can't beat 'em. Well, you can . . . beat on 'em, I mean . . . well, you know what I mean. ;)

I'd find someone to make a cheap kydex sheath for the one I'd carry, and leave the others as is.

thx - cpr

I never said it was better than the Becker. But it is better than the KaBar bowie. And I stand by that statement.

I was wondering what you were thinking.

IMO the Kabar heavy bowie is still the better knife out of the 2.

I stand by that statement.;)

If youd be willing to spend a little more then Scrap Yard Deregulator would fit you very well.

what you also get is this

"Our guarantee is simple. We warrant your knife against any and all unintentional MAJOR damage for life. The Scrap Yard guarantee is on the knife and NOT just for the original owner."

With that knife you'd get a piece of mind and a good workhorse

my .02

axtalano, i want you to do an all out, balls to the wall test between the two, and report back with HONEST results including pics. you do have them both, right? otherwise youre not one to really be giving a SHRED of advice on which is better. BTW, last time i checked a comfortable handle makes hard work ALOT easier

The Deregulator and Regulator are around $100. You can add a sheath for almost nothing.
IMO its one of the best heavy bowies out there and the Ergos are outstanding. Not to mention the warranty.

Minz.....
