Best cleaner for folding knives?

What about an ultrasonic cleaner, for knives with no natural handles scales? I have one,and was considering using it for stuff like that. They use them for cleaning gun parts and stuff.

Nylatron and teflon washers are impervious to most any solvent, including gunscrubber and alcohol, and some other things better left unnamed :p

Careful with the gunscrubber (contain halogens?) on stainless, the 300 series is especially susceptable to chloride stress corrosion cracking but I belive Martensitic stainless steels are pretty resistant to chloride cracking (as well as ferritic) but I wouldn't take the chance. Go with a non-chlorinated brake cleaner instead as long as it dosent affect the plastics/polymers/whatever on your knife.

Any metallurgists here to clear it up ;) ?

we have 100% alcohol for cleaning in our lab. It's very good and will dissolve almost anything, including some plastics, so you have to be careful...
the important question is, Will it completely dissolve one's inhibitions?
