Best clip design wins a Prototype EDC knife

For versions of your knives that appeal to knife art collectors, How about making the clip have a snake head, bear head or wolf head design. Some thing along those lines. Myself, I would like the nugget finish, as its more practical.

Cheers,
Damon

I'm pretty much a fan of the standard style of clip that most people are using right now. It would be nice to see one attached with sometype of screw thats more common than torx screws. That way you can switch side or remove the clip with a multi tool or something when you don't have a normal screwdriver handy.
I like the clip to be pretty strong(tight) to since I carry my knife in my back pocket and it sometimes gets caught on and bumped into things. But if you groove the handle anyhitng to make it grippier the clip can be hard on your pants when it pushes the edge of you pocket into the handle as you clip or unclip it from your pocket. So you might inlay a small smooth peice of stainless or Ti sheeting into your handle material right underneath where the clip pushes down on the handle. It wouldn't have to be big, and wouldn't show up much with the clip on.

Please Mr. Ralph, if you yourself as the maker of the knife doesn't really dig clips and thinks that they detract from the art of the knife--don't even put one on. But, if you are going to put one on I have no problems with the modified Sypdy/ Benchmade type one you put on my Apogee. Functionally it works just fine and I do like the fact that it is anchored above the pivot for "deep carry." As to the # of holes and corresponding # of screws--you know my thoughts on that, so 'nuff said.

Darrel i did not design it but i hope it still counts.the best clip i have seen is on our good friend Roger Dole's Tera Tike.but recess the clip in the handle and use only one screw in the middle.

I like clips on knives, well, MOST knives. Not only do they provide an acceptable mode of carry, but they don't really interfere with the grip and can make rollovers and obscure opening techniques easier, safer, and more fluid.

I can also sympathize with people who don't like clips on their knives, but why should people who like clips have to put up with special features on knives like "less holes" and "multi-use" holes that take away from the simplicity and function of a normal clip?

Most clips make the basic grip all screwball once you've drawn the puppy.

How about a clip that vanishes on draw?

THIS IS WHAT I FEEL WOULD BE THE PERFECT CLIP

Darrel, here are my comments:
1) No clip at all. But somekind of pocket case. The 'pocket pouch' could maybe have an clip to keep it in proper place. The pouch would protect the beatifull finish of your knives from keys or coins, and the knife would be better to use without a clip. Also the knife would be very discreet if it would be hidden in a pocket pouch.

2) EDC should be very discreet, as there are always situations where you don't want to advertice that you are carrying a knife. Sometimes you just can't tell before that you are going to end up in such a situation.
So the clip should allow as low ride as possible. Make a clip with 180 degrees bend at the top of the knife. Either make a hole in the top of the clip to access the screws, or make a wider attachement area for the clip so you can fit the screws in. Better use both directions: 3 screws; 2 on the sides and 1 through a hole. That will make it seem stronger to most people. Make it matte black with option of some other color if the customer wants. But normally black. Also don't make it wider than it has to be. Too large (I'd say that Spydercos are too large already) and it atracts attention. The bend at the top of the clip would probably work better if the knife would be tip up carry. Then the clip would not interfere as much with the use of the knife.

3) As the knife would ride very deep, design the end of the clip so that the knife can be pulled out with the index finger using the clip (of course helping with the thump as soon as the knife emerges a little from the pocket). This will case force on the end of the clip bending it outwards and thus easing the release of the clip. Then the clip can be made quite tight.

Thanks you all for the great ideas. I am looking and reading each and every post .

I will post the ideas that I feel will best work on the EDC line of knives .

The EDC is designed for a very low profile carry so that is my may thought here.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your help with this decission.

Please give me a few days to choose the ten
and allow you folks to vote on them.

If your ideas are not chossen please dont have bad feelings . Every post has merit.

I will say that I may choose the idea and not use it in full . Some posts have more appeal in one area and less in the other areas.

Thanks you all once again.
