Best Cold Steel hawk for home defense?

Lasse, are you able to buy the CS escrima or Crusher and Smasher bats in Denmark. All 3 of these are fairly cheap and virtually indestructible. Also there are good reasons why you might have them for reasons other than self-defence. To spell it out;you have the escrima because you like to practive martial arts and you have the bats because, you're that rarity in Denmark; you love baseball.
I have the Smasher in my car, the Crusher in my wifes car, and my story is; I use the bats to hit balls for my dog to chase.

I love my hawks and I would use one as SD tool if I was forced too....

but even if you decide on a good hawk....

save your pennies and get a firearm....

if you already have a quality firearm...train to use it...

if you have done all that buy a hawk that can be used for camping survival....

once you do that then get the last line defensive only HD tomahawk....

just my opinion and you may have valid reasons to disagree.....have a nice day.

A stout Fire extinguisher in the Kitchen

Excellent point as well, also if it were a CO2 type, the agent is one hell of a deterrent in its own right. I caught a wiff of some co2 from a flotation vest once, and it will do worse than knock the wind out of you. it just about shuts off your breathing by relfex.

CS vietnam hawk.

SHORT handle, very fast to manuver in confined spaces, and both a chopping edge and deep piercing point. Lanyard one to your wrist and it aint getting taken away from you by an interuder

Woah, thanks alot for all the replies guys!

There sure is alot of things to choose from, I'd like to stay in the tomohawk category though I think :) since, well. its multi purpose. And still seem most lethal compared to weight. Those Fiskars axes are quite nice though... But somewhat expensive if you are going to stock up on them, and I imagine them to be VERY top heavy. And I asume if someone would break into my house, and see me in underwear with a tomohawk, and they STILL didnt run. That means they are very well ready to get into a lethal fight. And in that case I prefere to have a lethal weapon ;)
If someone is ready to take my life I wouldnt care much if they get chopped a arm off in the process of trying to stop them (I would asume so atleast. I can ofcourse not talk for precicely how I would react before It happens)
Sorry if I am wrong but I just dont think a bat or axe handle wil do enough damage.
Its a whole other talk if you're just trying to defend yourself on the street, but when someone is in your house and doesnt run when you have noticed them. Then I'd asume they are ready to kill. And then I want to be ready aswell :)

It isnt realy much of a proplem with several of the same items around the house, since they would all be somewhat hidden in said room. And its not like the police would search my house after it would happen. Not right away atleast. So I'd only have to explain the one away I did it with. Somewhat hard to explain why you got a axe in your bedroom or bathroom though O.o got to think about that one. I didnt include the kitchen course I'd be within reach of a large enough knife there instead :)

Burningcort - Well, sadly a firearm here would land you several years in jail and its almost impossible to get hold of one ilegaly without being HA or such.

Also, the excuse that you use them for throwing doesnt work <.< its ilegal to own a throwing axe in denmark. Heck we cant even have a locking pocket knife. Its fun though. You can find lots of throwing axes to buy, but aslong they are marked as a normal axe they are perfectly legal. As soon you start throwing with it you can get in jail for it <.<

Thanks alot again!

Wasp spray, the outdoor long range stuff works well and looks proper in the bathroom. Oven cleaner is hard on bad guys to and can be kept under ant sink or shelf with cleaning supply's.

How about a good stout cleaver and large sharp butchers or chefs knife(ala Gangs of New York).Easy to explain and a devastating combo. Also fairly inexpensive and hey you need to cook, right?A short machete is good too.

Really, you can't own anything for the purpose of self defense? Really? I apologize, but being a Texan this is just a completely alien concept.
If you want something you would be able to explain away in the home I'd go to the nearest pawn shop, second hand store, or rummage sale looking for a tool belt and roofing hammer/hatchet (hammer on one side narrow hatchet on the other), a brick mason's hammer (hammer?chisel), a good old ball peen, a framing hammer, a wrecking bar, and a good assortment of screwdrivers. In the kitchen, well, it's already an unconventional arsenal with all the skillets, knives, rolling pin, and what not. In the car, just a well stocked tool box, you'd be amazed how proper of an etiquette lesson one can deliver with a large wrench.

Here at home or at my shop an intruder best pray to be shot as apposed to the various other options. God I love Texas...

Oh, check out any zombie movie for ideas, especially "Zombieland". I've got to get a banjo.

The rifleman hawk is a pretty heavy head. I have been throwing mine for almost a decade. But it is heavy, and hard to check a full swing or reverse directions if you miss a swing. The norse hawk is pretty light and quick. Two points on the bit. Makes for great jabing, slashing and hooking. Cold steel hawks are a great value. The special forces shovel does make a nasty weapon as well. Of you sharpen the edges more. Even left as is, a good swing would remove an arm. It also throws great.

for an inexpensive Tomahwk go with CS trail hawk, they are lite and quick and sink DEEP. choke up on the handle a few inches and way*lay'em. Rifleman's hawk slower and heavy. norse hawk and frontier hawk are ok, some one here said and cs hawks are a good value and they are right.

well since a firearm is out...I would say a CS trail hawk, and the largest blade you can have and still be a lawfull citizen...

Out of the CS hawks my first choice would be the trail hawk. I would rather pick a longsword for melee use but those cost 10-20 times as much.
