Best cold Steel

Just depends. For EDC a Recon 1 or large Voyager would be a fine choice(Mini Recon or Med Voyager if you prefer something smaller)...possibly the new Code 4s as well, though I've yet to handle one of them

Original Master Tanto, followed by the Master Hunter in Carbon V, SRK, drop point Californian, any of the Red River series, Voyagers, Twistmasters... heck, Lynn Thompson can sit at my campfire any time.

The big question is, "best for what"?

Although I can assure you Cold Steel always has a top quality knife for anything you might need a knife for.

if you can find them, the original tanto, the original trailmaster in carbon v, or the original voyager. those are the best CS products, IMHO. everything that came after are either failed concepts or attempts at improvement.

That is a pretty vague answer to "Best for what?" considering Cold Steel's vast line of very different blades.

But for the sake of an answer try the SRK or Recon Scout. Both can easily be carried [the SRK being smaller and lighter has an edge here] and they are both as tough as any knife on the market. They are both versatile and can handle big and little jobs well and they have fantastic edges that hold up even after prolonged use. If things go wrong while you are in the field either of these will function in a survival role and never let you down...give the SRK or Recon Scout a try and you will not regret it.
I have both of these knives and would recommend either one. The only drawback is the kraton handle that is found on both -- it's grippy but it wears off quite easily.
Recon 1 spearpoint
I've had a couple of Recon 1's and the spear point is my favorite CS folder. Big, strong aus8 blade and a super-solid lock-up. Out of the box, it shaved my arm hair. You can't go wrong with this 4 inch bad-boy!

i like their fixed blades best.
and with cs being known for their tantos,
i like the kobun best for its size, weight and practicality.
but the knife which i saw as having the best all round use
would have to be the the old taiwanese bushman model.
it was functional as it was good value for money.
the best cold steel product ever to me at least,
is it's free promotional proof videos.
it has got the best entertainment value ever
and it gets the better of me
for each time it gets played.
i get to see the best of every model before deciding what best suits me.
it stands as the all time winner
for the best cold steel product year after year.

I'm going to go out on a different direction here - my favorite Cold Steel knife is the TwistMaster. Otherwise known as the "Tactical Opinel". They don't make them any more, to my knowledge. They look and operate basically like an Opinel, with the ring lock - but instead of wood handles, Cold Steel substituted a high-grip rubber like you find on the Master Hunter. It is Carbon V steel, which takes a screamin' edge, too. They originally came in three sizes - and I have a medium, which has a clip blade a little under 4" long.

I've kept this in my camp bag for the past 20+ years and it hangs tough year-in, year-out...
