Hello. I'm looking around for a Combat Knife to carry on me, not for tasks, just for one purpose. I'm looking for a knife under 4.0oz, Blade No bigger then 3.5in and my price limit is $250. Thanks for reading and any help would be appreciated.

Btw: I've looked at the Emerson Combat Karambit, real nice combat knife, considering this knife so far but if you guys have anything else to recommend, please do. Thanks.

You are going to have to be a little more specific in your request. Many people consider combat knives because they are tuff and can be used harshly in a number of environments, however, you seem to be eluding to a weapon designed to kill. They would be two totally different knives for most people.

I want it to be easy to carry, capable for Self Defense but mainly just want it for my collection.

If you want it for your collection....just get the knife you think is the coolest looking.

If you want a knife for SD, I would suggest asking for a suggestion from the person who gave you your knife-based self-defense training.

That is not a fighting knife per se, as you can't stab with it (offensive).

you ever seen someone continue to be aggressive whilst gathering up their intestines and trying to put them back in?

IMHO, the best weapon in a fight is the one your opponent never knows you had until he is missing parts which he would prefer to keep

Spyderco P'Kal? However, I think you'd get more mileage from an Endura...

...but I dunno much about combat knives. :o

I just bought a large Bantam for about $20 at the local sporting goods store. Its got a lock back and somewhat of a gripish handle.

Buck Large Bantam® BHW, Black Thermoplastic Handle, Plain Edge 3 3/4" blade 3.2 oz

Hollywood analogies aside, I was referring to the way everyone relates to and think of when they hear the words "combat knife", most people think USMC KaBar. The Civilian was designed to a last ditch effort for undercover agents. But then again, the person that brandishes a knife could likely be met with .45 ACP rounds to the upper body.
As Timberweasel mentioned, the P'Kal would be more of a traditional "fighting knife" at least in my mind.

I agree about asking your instructor, even thinking about that type of knife let alone carrying it, pal, your just inviting trouble, IMHO!! I'll spare you a lengthy story...

Eew! No, have you? If you have I hope you at least tried to help.
Still not a great combat knife IMO.

Get a small and very sturdy fixed blade that won't break under stress.

BTW, that Esee 3 is perfect, right down to the grippy handle.
Problem is I don't support Esee, personal reasons...

Yeah, i have to agree with this... getting a "combat knife" puts you in the crosshairs of any DA trying to make a name for himself in the event that you have to use it

i carry a "pocket knife" for utility reasons, opening letters, boxes, etc, and it just so happens that it makes a good weapon for defense.
