OK guys looking to drop the cash for a nice custom flipper and wanted to see if I could get some recommendations.

I am looking to spend in the $500-$600 but would consider going a little over for something truly wicked.

Things I am looking for
-Strong Detent
-Smooth Action
-IKBS (or whatever it is called by the particular maker...)
-Framelock
-Titanium
-Carbon Fiber
-"Nice" steel

Thoughts? Recommendations?

Have been looking at the RJ Martin's but they seem difficult to get a hold of...

Sounds like the Brous Blade silent soldier flipper would be pretty good for you.

I think you might want to make a list of ones you would like. I'd say most of these customs cannot just be bought whenever you have the cash. Sometimes you just have to wait it out till one comes up which might take a few months a year who knows. I have a Brous it is a very cool knife and you can get one right now. As far as the others like I said make a list because if you want a custom flipper you better pony up cash to commission one ( providing you can get a reply from anyone) or hit the refresh on the exchange everyday a few times a day till you get lucky.
BTW I have $500-600 sitting here waiting on a a Southard mini Daws since the beginning of the year and no luck so far it's frustrating.

If you post a WTB thread in various forums them you should be able to find what you want, it just may cost you a bit more than you want or expect.

David Mosier. Has some great flippers, I have a Sypro II which is very nice.

Les Voorhies makes a beautiful flipper inside your price range........Check them out.

Good luck with your search and let us know how you go......

I really like my Kirby Lambert Snap:

Technically speaking, it's not a framelock, but the locking titanium liner is beefier than most framelocks.

Mikkel Willumsen. ( Willumsen Copenhagen Urban Tactical on Facebook, just send him a message ) I have my 2nd knife on the way from him atm, full airplane grade titanium. My 1st one was Titanium, carbon fiber and Chad Nichols Damascus. The picture below.

This one is small and below 7cm blade because I need it to be EDC legal in my country, but he makes all kinds of stuff, and good framelocks. Check him out.

Appreciate the responses I have a few makers to go check out now. It seems I shouldn't limit myself lots of good makers. I do really like the look of the Kirby Lambert. That Willumsen is also outta control!

It seems as though a lot of them are hard to find, I believe patience and determination may be needed for a good reward...

What do you all think of this framelock flipper by Scot Matsuoka? (photo is from Les Robertson) Apparently he learned from Ken Onion... cool thing is a few can actually be found available...

LSCF, is cooool
Ti Framelock and Bolsters, I like
CPM154, is good not like it will see any ridiculous use
IKBS, sweetness

I've never even handled one,but I've heard from many reliable sources that RJ Martin has the flipper framelock perfected. They're on my long list to get someday.

One that I can recommend (since I own one) is the DDR Trigger Maze. They usually come with the clip tip down only, but if you buy from Darrel direct & ask him nicely,he may just drill & tap it for tip up.That's what I did.:)

I'm carrying this today BTW.

The smoothest IKBS flipper I had was from Begg (but his are hard to come by). For IKBS I like Lambert Snap and Burnley Kwaiken both still taking orders now. (Mosier when his books open).

For non IKBS/bearings, McGiniss (his website says not taking orders but I emailed him and he's working on my order!), Shirogorovs (TNK sells them).

If you can find an RJ, don't hesitate, his flippers have great action/balance/and are scary sharp!

On my wish list are: Southard, GTC, Burch

Look at Zermeno knives (WDZ knives) before making a decision. They're beautiful, and will cost you a good deal less than some other makers

I am really enjoying my David Mosier Medium Creep folder with ikbs, s35vn steel, and titanium scales. Strong detent, super fast opening and a real fine piece of cutlery.
