Best Custom or Production Gladius shaped Object (NOT Busse)?

I recently placed an order for a Busse Gladius and it got me thinking about this blade design.

In your opinion, what is the best Gladius like object out there? I don't have the slightest interest in historic accuracy. Just looking for the best design and execution on the market regardless of price

The only one i hear being compared to the Busse is the Gage Gladius

Thanks!

Isn't there a Cold Steel Gladius machete out now adays? That likely is thinner and less sturdy than the Busse, but I'd bet its still fun to swing around.

have one... it's the reason i decided i wanted a real gladius, but it's incredibly thin and not really what i'd call high quality

true enough... i've hacked through all KINDS of stuff with it and it'll do the job of a machete with style

as a weapon, not my first (or 4th) choice

i'm looking for more premium style weapons... things made to maim and kill stuff other than weeds

How do these two sentences make sense together? How does one have a "best design and execution" if you "don't have the slightest interest in historic accuracy"?

Go look at the busse gladius and the Gage up there ^

Neither one is remotely "historically accurate" but both are highly efficiently designed weapons using premium materials with excellent execution

Debatable. ;)

Stuart Branson's made some gorgeous swords. I bet he could do a really nice one. I also really like Barry Dawson's gladius renditions. But the Gage and the Busse are both pretty epic.

Haters gonna... well you know :D

He's no hater. Just being honest.

The Busse Gladius is a wonderful object, but it's very heavy. Unless you have arms and wrists of steel and cable, you're going to have a difficult time in any sort of "real" fight. Not that that ever happens today -- today, it's firearms and quick reflexes.

The dreaded "double post."

How to add some value? Aha ... if you poke around BF, I think you'll find a post where STeven Garsson discussed the heavy weight of the Gladius and the problems it posed for a swordsman. STeven is an experienced 'cutter' -- iajutsu, that sort of thing.

While I am absolutely not a swordsman, I've had some similar discussions with my daughter's sensei.

Yeah I messages Garth to see if he can do anything to lighten it up a bit. A sort of light brigade gladius

It won't be easy. A light brigade treatment would throw the weight of the sword toward the tip, which might not be the best thing for you.

It was just a thought. Maybe he can just widen the fuller to compensate. I don't even know if it's possible. Just an interesting thought

Vince Evans (not a gladius, but I bet he could do a good one):

Also, Albion has a gladius as well. They generally do good work. And I think there's an Angus Trim version floating around as well.

not as pretty as the above customs, but this one would supply a lot of function for a fraction of the cost...
it was a limited production run designed by 42blades himself.

Without any doubt or reservation, Vince Evans would be the custom maker to go to.
