Hey Everyone,

For those of you that watch knife videos on youtube, this might seem like a familiar topic. A few years ago jdavis882 made a video on his top 5 production knives, based on cutting performance.

I'm interested in hearing about the best cutting production knives that you have ever used.

My top 3 are: Spyderco Stretch, Benchmade 550HG Grip, Spyderco PM2

S110V Manix2 seems to be a popular choice these days.

Spyderco Gayle Bradley
Spyderco Chaparral
Kershaw JYD SG2

110V Manix for me. I've been using mine every chance I get (and I get quite a few chances at my job) and it still pops hairs weeks later. It's the most tool-like knife I've ever owned. Completely designed to cut things well and for a long time.

Spyderco Calypso Jr. If you can find one.

Opinels have great geometry but the steel loses its edge quickly. Saks have a geometry like opinels and keep an edge a little longer. Modern traditionals such as stockmans, congress, etc., have terrific geometry, and you can get them in good steels (queen in D2 for example) that will give you the best of both worlds.

I guess most traditional blade's geometry leads to them cutting well. For "modern" style knives, I think the Ontario Rat-1 and the Spyderco (Para)Military are quite good at slicing.(Relatively) thin stock and FFG help a lot, I even have some knives around 5mm thick that cut quite well because of FFG.

These 5 knives have worked really good for ME. The Cold Steel peace maker lll surprised me the most, I bought the knife because a had some money left on a gift card and just wanted to use it up...but this thing really cuts well..!!! The Spyderco Resilience came in handy on a camping trip for food prep...for wood carving the Opinel and Eastwing are really good. The CRKT ringed razel was an awesome beat the crap out of, work knife..best work knife i've ever put in my pocket

Benchmade 484 is the best out of what I carry, but the Gayle Bradley is the best out of what I own.

I forgot to mention - my Spyderco Tenacious is also a pretty mean slicer!

I've never owned (or even held) an Opinel. I might need to check one of those out!
