Best cutting production knives

Spyderco Para 2 is up there. It will cut through just about anything you throw its way and it holds up really well.
Benchmade 555hg Mini Grip - solid knife with a great grind for slicing and other tasks, it's a tough little knife. I have a yellow one coming in as my next knife.

I was going to say Opinel, but half a dozen folks have already beat me to it.

Oh heck, I'll say it anyways: Opinel.

And the stainless Opinel is better than the carbon Opinel.

The Tenacious was my 1st spyderco....then i was hooked !!...I have 2 of them and was thinking about getting a fully serrated version

My best cutter is my Stretch in Zdp

Although I don't own one (yet?) the S110v Manix seems like it could compete.

Spyderco junior would be my best slicer and I have a lot of knives. That broad blade shape and ffg gives it great slicing ability. If only it had a better handle.

Cutting ability or are we talking about "out of the box" sharpness?
If so I'm surprised at some of the responses.
The Spydercos do come very, very sharp sharp from the factory no question.
But compared to the two Moras that I have the Tenacious (or the Delica, etc.) is not even close.
Recently bought a Morakniv companion and that is a scary sharp knife for sure.

I believe the OP is talking about blade geometry. Not sharpness and not edge retention. How well a knife cuts. Of course there are different types of cuts.
A zero ground Spyderco Nilakka making a shallow cut into a soft material is going to cut with very little force.
An Opinel is probably thicker right above the edge but the Nilakka is thicker higher up because of the thick stock compared to the thin Opinel. So maybe an Opinel slices through stiff cardboard or an apple with less force.
My third selection was a Benchmade Mini Grip with hollow ground blade. This is a great slicer and a more versatile knife than the others. It's a great EDC.
I'd also give an honorable mention to the Spyderco Bradley.

Cold Steel Voyagers are thinner behind the edge than many mentioned as they come stock, usually not thought of for this stuff though.

Of the ones I own, and in no particular order (because, at this level, they all cut like the Devil's gaze):

Benchmade 710 (M390 & D2)
Benchmade 480-1 Shoki (M390)
Spyderco Stretch (VG-10)
Spyderco Para2 (M390 & CTS 204P)

and the Benchmaade 550HG (154CM) and the Spyderco Gayle Bradley (M4) share Honorable Mention

There is an Opinel in just about every picnic basket in all of Europe....a very popular, cheap, useable knife.
