Best deal you passed up and/or kick yourself for later.

Bladechick777 started a thread about the best you've got. This thread is the opposite, what's the best deal you've seen that you passed on and later kicked yourself for.

I passed on a couple spyderco's I've still not gotten over, both here on the X.. One was a really good condition P'Kal for $80, saw it for sale a few days and almost jumped on it twice, when I finally decided I had to have it I went back and it was gone. The other was a Caly 3 ZDP/CF for $70, passed it up trying to wait for a 3.5 but now I'd rather have taken that deal than not got anything.

Then there's lots of good deals I just don't get to in time but that's different. With both of those I not only got to them but had time to think, just made the wrong decisions, I was especially upset at myself for not getting the P'Kal when it was up.

When I had only been into knives for a couple of months I went to a pawn shop and saw a big mean hollow-handled sawback survival knife--you know, the kind that is made by a hundred knockoff companies in the far east. I had no idea what the "RP Hendersonville NC" marking meant, so no way was I going to fork over the $35 they were asking!

I came home and did some research, and after picking my jaw up off the floor I called the shop back but they sold it the day before.

I learned that I regret the knives I didn't buy more than the ones I did.

I was at Blade several years ago standing at Bobby Branton's table holding a Branton-Brend collaboration knife, a beautiful little clip-point boot knife of very limited production.
My wife was standing at my left elbow, saying to me, "If you don't buy it now while you have the chance you'll regret it later." (Yeah, she's a real keeper!) I didn't, and I do.

Classic reverse psychology !!!!!
