Best dye for blesbok horn ?

I've bought a few of these horns. The shape is close to perfect for what I've planned, but the color is a bit on the bright/light side.
So what will give the nicest black color on these ? Leatherdye or woodstain ? Maybe a dark brown color ?
Something completely different ?
What's best for filling the horn ? Epoxy is my best bet, but I've considered glueing in a wellfitted wooden dowel as well, so the tang has something "real" to grab on to.

Leather dye will work best i think it is thin enough to soak in good, just fill with epoxy if it is good epoxy it will hold.
