After some research on the two steels and the knife I have decided to go for a junkyard dog, thanks guys.

Had no idea you were considering the JYD. They are great knives! You have chosen well. The ergonomics are excellent. It's a knife that grips you back.

I tried the JYD head to head with the Rake a couple years back and I really couldn't make up my mind which I preferred. They are both very different, but both excellent in their own right.

Good choice, and post pics if you can when it comes in.

Actually just went with the mule. Better price point and strapped on cash for budget. Handle is nice and meaty and has excellent grip, have handled one before and the blade is longer which I like. Looks like I'll be staying in the aus 8a steel lol.
