Best EDC Blade Shape

I vote a Spey blade for the best secondary blade shape, especially on a stockman pattern….oh yeah clip blade for first.
No way I’d give up a coping blade for a spey blade.

I always thought a stockman would be best with a large clip primary with a coping and spey blades for secondary's. Nothing against pen blades, but I don’t need one with a clip primary.

The "reverse tanto" is really growing on me lately! Fine tip for precise work, some belly to the blade, easy to sharpen, etc. If I get out hunting this year, I want to try it out for field dressing a whitetail. I usually put my index finger along the spine of the blade to the tip and I think the reverse tanto would work really well for the gutting and cleaning out portion!

A friend that has been in the knife business for 30 years swears by Wharncliffe. Unfortunately I didn’t pay 100% attention when he explained why he thought they were the best for EDC LOL.

For what you listed for your use I would recommend a warncliff or a modified warncliff. They are pretty easy to maintain and sharpen than an upswept blade but still fairly utilitarian.

Kinda hard to find a blade shape that can't do EDC tasks. But for my druthers it's midline or lower points, and subtler rather than rounder, if any belly. That's about it.
