Best EDC Flash Light

How about an E1.

I found that the E2 was just to big to carry around every day, and ended up getting and E1 instead. It is still crazy bright, and only uses half the batteries.

I'm going to add to the E2e vote. I'm never without mine and it is my 'bestest' gadget.

However, as previously mentioned by Cosmic Superchunk, I would really recommend getting an Arc AAA to put on your keys. Very useful.

Hope you find your ideal light,
Hellz

I have 2 keychains. One regular and one just-in-case. On my regular I have a Princeton Tec Blast. It won't singe your retina but it is adequate. Plus the small size and clip makes carrying my keys easier. I either clip them to my belt or to my pocket. Keeps my keys handy as well as the light.

On my spare keys I have a white Photon II given to me personally by David Allen :D Nothing More.

When the sun goes down I take my E2 (w/E2e head) that I keep in the car and strap it on. The SF V82 holster is great for quick-release/quick--attachment.

My Arc AAA is part of my Car's Emergency kit.

So what does my suggestion boil down to? A Sure Fire E2o w/V82 and either a Photon II and/or Arc AAA.

When I put my vote in for the E2E, I forgot to mention that an Arc AAA on the keyring is also a must have. I got an LE model and the HA finish is holding up well after almost a year. That combo seems to cover all my needs. With those two lights on me, I pretty much never have to resort to digging my back-up light (E2HA with the KL1) out of my laptop bag....:)

Ok guys, I sold. Looks like the E2E and Arc AAA are a must have combination for me. Where are the best places to buy? Surefire is clearly the place for batteries, but their light prices are a little steep compared to what you all were listing. Show me the good deals..... And thanks to all who posted.

:D :D :D

I hate to play devil's advocate, but have you considered saving a few more $$$ and springing for a Surefire A2? I had the same problem you do. I need a low powered, long lasting light for general use and a high powered light for SD, etc. and I hate carrying multiple bulky lights. I think the A2 has solved all my problems. It is a great EDC, as you will have a low light LED option and a LED/incandescent 60 lumen high powered option. The beauty is that you don't have to fumble for 2 lights and the LED's last quite a while on a set of batteries. I realize they are hard to come by and pricey, but I would highly recommend the A2 as an EDC if you can justify the cost and wait.

Take care,
Chris

Candlepower Forums is your friend, here. Go and ask the question.

I'd guess you'll be told:

You *must* have the ARC AAA (I think it's compulsory)
The E2e is a must have, but you need the KL1 head, too (unless you can spring for the A2)
The Inova X5T is also pretty compulsory
You *need* a couple of G2s

Why not buy them all?

I don't really fit in there, being as I've only got (deep breath)
Surefire 6P (P60/P61), E1, E2e (with KL1 too),G2
Inova X5T
Photons (about 6)
ARC AAA and LS1 hybrid
Streamlight Stylus, BatonLite
MiniM*g with Opalec NewBeam LED module
UKE Mini Q40

I only *need* an SF A19 adaptor and a Turbohead for the 6P, OK, maybe a P91 assembly too, just in case)

A2 is one great light and a good choice for EDC. The main beam is 50 lumens, very bright and very white. The 3 nichia leds are very useful and very white too. I love mine and I recommand it.

If you get an E2e-HA (which I consider a must have), I would suggest that it is better to save up so that you can buy a KL4 when it is released this year.

If you get an E1e-HA, the KL1 is a must have. However, I would get an L1 over an E1e-HA & KL1.

Some people have found that the choice of output offered by the A2 and L1 are very useful. I certainly consider this to be the case for the A2.

E2e is definitely a great light. The addition on the KL1 LED head on this light makes this a great combination for EDC. Though, my E2e/KL1 combo has been displaced by the A2. CPR pretty much summed up the advantages of this light. Best of both worlds. It's the ultimate EDC light for me.

May I ask what you carry on your just-in-case keychain? Mine is always in a state of flux. I'm never really satisfied with it.

Craig, it's mainly just in case I lose my 1st set of keys. The only non-key item on there is 1 light. Which is sometimes a white Photon II sometimes an ARC AAA LE.
