Title says it all. I'm looking for a new EDC in the $75-$100 (as in Amazon price) range. I've got a spyderco resilience and am looking to upgrade.

Get the PM2 for about 110. Great edc and even better value. Knifeworks is a great vendor.

Nothing like taking care of your issues with a concise post at #2.

If you want a better Spyderco the Manix 2 LW with S110V steel would be a good upgrade or a Para 2.
Benchmade Griptilian or Kershaw S30V Blur are just a few that come to mind. There are plenty out there and you just need to shop around and find what you like. Good Luck Kevin

Manix 2, Paramilitary 2 (for a little over $100), Griptilian. Or you could get ten Opinel #8 knives.

I'll echo the 110v Manix suggestion. You'd be hard-pressed to find a lighter, more utilitarian EDC knife with better ergos or better steel or a better warranty in the price range. Seriously. 110V is amazing stuff, the knife weighs practically nothing and has a great lock, the warranty is unbeatable, and the knife itself is almost ideal. They could charge twice as much for the knife and people would still be all about it.

the manix 2 lw s110v deserves all the recommendations. it is an excellent knife but is a little more than the $100 on amazon. the regular manix 2 is very good as well or the new spyderco native 5 frn. the pm2 is a classic that is a great edc blade. the centofante 3 is also a cool blade to carry

More than $100 is fine. I'm not really on a tight budget. I'm seriously looking at the Spyderco PM2. I carry a resilience right now and it looks like a nicer version. Love the lock on the resilience and the way it feels it the hand. Does anybody have experience with the Spyderco Sage?

Knowing how/where you carry makes a difference. I'm currently fond of my BM 530 with a deep carry clip. It is so light and thin, yet still capable.

I have a Sage 1 and a PM2. Both are great, but quite different. I consider the Sage almost a Gentleman's Knife, while the PM2 is more hard use. It totally depends on your requirements.

What are your typical cutting tasks? Where will you be carrying the knife (i.e. Office setting, restaurant, farm, etc.)? Are you looking for any features in particular, like a specific blade length/thickness, handle material, etc?

Also, do you sharpen your own knives, and are you proficient at it?

Kizer has several models that are quite affordable if you're into titanium. For super slim, trim and lightweight the Boker Plus Urban Trapper is a handy gentleman's folder. Buck 830 Marksman is the best production flipper I've ever handled and nets you a funky-cool lock. Spyderco Manix 2 XL is an awesome, heavyweight slicer. The H&K 14715 has somewhat humble looks, but it's nice, tough and a great value. Cold Steel, just pick from the new XHP models whichever you want based on size, blade and handle: Recon 1, Talwar, American Lawman, Holdout 2 or 3, Code 4, or Ultimate Hunter. FRN Stretch 2 with ZDP-189 also deserves mention for being one of the best and most underrated knives available.

I just wanted to let you know that I've been considering the S110v Manix since literally the day it came out, but your comment happened to be the tipping point for me and I just bought one on Amazon. Thank you!

The PM2 is cool but I would recommend an Endura or Delica. I loved my Delica until the trees at the Christmas Tree farm decided to take revenge and snatch it straight outta my pocket. I got a PM2 to replace it but it was just too "tactical" for me. I then got BM's version of the Delica, the Mini Grip, but it still wasn't the same. Thats why those two are currently on the Exchange. I'm picking up am Endura next. They're just really light, thin, and good at cutting.

If you like the Resilience then I think a Spyderco Military might be more your speed.
Of course it's going to cost more than the PM2, but it is a lot closer, size wise, to the Resilience.

I am really enjoying the Benchmade Nakamura 484-1 S90V which I am switching off with my long time EDC which is a small Rittergrip M4 with Wilkinsgrips. Both are small and light. As I get older I seem to be drawn to gentlemans size folders.

Consider spending a little more and getting a ZT0350, ZT0566 or spend a little less and look at the Kershaw Knockout or Kershaw Camber!
