Best EDC folding knife for around $200 to $250.

Ill throw out votes for a ZT 0300BW, either of the Spyderco Militarys or a Manix 2. There are many quality folders well within your price range.

In that price range (and perhaps a bit below it, if you shop around), I really like the BM 943 and the ZT 0550.

The BM 943 is slim, lightweight and has a smooth AXIS lock. The S30V blade is around 3.4", a nice length for most EDC tasks.

The 0550 is a heftier knife, although it carries well in most pants (I even carry it in slacks and thin sports pants). I've got several Zero Tolerance folders and the 0550 is the one I use the most. Very smooth action, nice deep carry clip, lovely S35VN blade.

I will throw in the ZT 801, it's available well below you max, but you can save on the initial price and then send it to Maprik here on BF and have it anodized. 801 Blue 2.jpg

As another way to go I will second the Southard, and also the Fox deimos folder, and I'd take a look at the Dendra Tiger Jump and the Bastinelli BB-2 if I wanted something a little more tactical. Th eprice range you are looking at opens up a lot of nice possibilities!

Good luck with your choice & have fun!

I have folders from $30 to $500 but the Spyderco PM2 remains my all time favourite EDC. It is the only folder I own more than one of. The PM2 is imo the best cost conscious alternative to the Sebenza (which I also own). You just cannot go wrong with it. Use the money left over to buy a Spyderco Sharpmaker and a nice original Spyderco lanyard.

Hello everyone, long time reader and decided to start posting! Was just wondering what everyone's favorite EDC folding knife around the price point of $200 or $250. Thanks for the time, pictures would be much appreciated!

Asked years back I'd have said the finer folders left and right but truth be told I've found over the years they saw little 'real' use. By real use I mean the kind you give the one you don't care about. It finally dawned on me that for years I'd been carrying the old pocket folder of some sort, be it a lockback or a slip joint but most of them had at least a locking blade too now that I think about it. I've always been a fan of a lock on a folding blade. I think it is why the electricians folder is the fave among traditionals for me and why I ended up creating one to my own liking but I digress a bit. For years I've carried a pocket jewelry show piece knife of high quality, beautiful in every way. All well and good but it just was show. Took my ego a while to digest that tho. Finally got around to appreciating the show knives but being aware that in my mind and my use agenda I seem to unconsciously categorize them. As a result I carry a Emerson A100 I could give the crack of a rats furry behind over, and a beat up STREK electricians I've used since I opened it when it arrived and started making videos. I can loan either one without a care. Sit back and watch without so much as a cringe when the guy that borrowed my A100 uses it to clean out home plate a little better at the field to make sure its sitting flat there before the game starts and even getting it back a crappy mess I don't care! That is the knife for me now. The one I actually use! If its not the A`100 its the Mini AK 47 by Cold Steel which I've tweaked to make more fun but both get used and abused. I simply don't do that with my Hinderers, my ZTs, my Para 2s, my Dodos, my Delicas, my Benchmades and Kershaws but I have them oh I have them. Many many and great all of them. Just can't bring myself to actually do much with them and even when I tested them I only beat up the test knives sent and only doubles of those I owned. Some just seem to shut off the use button for me I'm not sure why. I have a couple expensive flashlights and some watches this way too. Its something I'm fixing baby step like as I age tho. Anyway, that is my take these days.
