Since you are familiar with Kershaw how 'bout the new Ken Onion designed storm framelock? I attached a pic. They come in two sizes. For $60 you can buy two.

First let me seconed UnknownVT's advice about the Victorinox SAK's. Excellent EDC's. I carry a Camper and love it.

Also I will add to the Spyderco lovers and say for under $60 the Delica, Calypso Jr., and Native are all great knives. You will enjoy any of them.
