Best edc knife for around $200

There are lots of good knives out there in your price range. What ever you pick just be sure it is one you are able to sharpen yourself. You may not be happy with a knife that is difficult to sharpen. 154Cm VG 10 are good starting points.

Around $200?
Benchmade 940 variant if you can find a good one. Mini Crooked River is a good alternative.

ZT 0450 (+/- CF) if you want a flipper. 0801 if you want some heft. 0609 if you can go a bit over $200.

Spyderco Kapara if you want awesome (mine is on the way). PM2 if you don’t mind sacrificing pocket space. Mili if you want to go LARGE.

Knifeworks exclusive s90v Military is a steal at 199.95, cf/ti handles and just under 4” blade length. There are a few left, and this is a knife you won’t regret buying. I’ve been using mine almost daily for some time and can still shave with it, as spyderco has nailed their heat treat on s90v by now. Check out the thread in the spyderco subforum.

If I missed the part where the op specified a folder, forgive me.

How about a bradford guardian 3 or 4? Lots of options on steel and scale choice. Kydex or the standard leather sheath. I'll be pocket carrying mine today. It's a 3, standard scales in blue/black, high saber grind with false top swedge.

As long as you didn't mention specific needs, here's something utilitarian and unusual.

Helle Bleja

$219 on [at least one site].

I agree with Craytab on this one.

The Bradford Guardian 3. I'd get the 3D carbon fiber scales and M390, but that's me.

SK Blades "Smoke Jumper" (clip point) or "The Shield" (drop point) Buck 110LT.
Both have a CPM-154 blade, and weigh 3.4 ounces.
Cost is call it $40 each.

I bought one of them Case Folders, in 1973 paid $6 dollars and still have it.

+1 on the Bleja, though just over the stated budget. I have a Dokka that can be had for well under that and is simply a fine knife. But as stated, the "best" knife will be purely subjective. Even with fairly well defined criteria, there may be a proverbial phonebook of options to fit the bill. I doubt you could really ever narrow it down to a single knife. At some point, the purchaser must take the leap of faith and make the choice themselves.

The best knife I've found for my own personal EDC is the Spyderco PM2. I have 3 different models in M4 that I carry and one model in S110V. Most of these are available for under $200.

EDC for under $200? This thread could have legs. Fortunately, there are literally too many choices.

Try to go somewhere where you can handle some in a retail environment if possible to start narrowing it down.

It would have been easier if you would have said sub $100 ;)

Really recommend a manix 2 or paramilitary 2. Or you can find an emerson cheap on knifeworks for under 200 that would cost more on other websites. (im an emerson fan boy) Recon 1 is also a good choice for low maintance but a zt 0350 is an amazing knife, cuts amazingly well. Only downside is people complain about the weight and it lacks a pointy tip. And if you struggle sharpening the recurve might cause some issues but honestly isnt that hard to do on stones.
