Best EDC SAK for the urban environment.

I carry Spartan Lite. It has the phillips screwdriver in line with the handle and not in T position. It has the corkscrew that holds the mini screwdriver for my glasses. The LED itself is handy in dark places (parking lots, etc.). Once I accidentally dropped my other knife on the sidewalk that has bushes, it was handy in locating.

For urban environment (you'll need screwdrivers more than saw), spartan lite at 3 layers is hard to beat. Scissor: only used for those you can't use knife, but I find that if I keep the small blade ultra sharp, it even can be a nail cutter if I'm careful, trim excess/loose dry skin around your finger .. so I don't think I'll need scissor.

for me its a Vic super tinker.

but i always have a keychain light and a nuwai Q3 on me for light.

for urban carry (which is about 95% of my carry) I like:
corkscrew
phillips

this severely limits my choices.

These days it's the Explorer.

Truthfully any of them.

I have a champ, soldier, ranger, and probably a few more around. The soldiers get more use than the others. They come out more for off pavement.
Any SAK makes a real good edc knofe.

hey could you guys recommend something like the compact but with a nail file?

The Sportsman has a nail file in place of the small blade, but does not have scissors. I am not sure of anything similar that has a nail file.

my everyday carry saks are a huntsman with the light ior a trekker.both do everything i need and dont take up room and dont feel like a brick in my pocket:)

The Wenger Traveler is pretty close if you don't mind three layers.

This one has a file on the back of the long nail pick. It is an older Golfer. It's my EDC. I love it!

Since my Spartan lite doesn't have nail file, I use the reamer to smoothen my nail. Work ok with some tweak ..;)

If you look around you can find some Compacts that have a nail file on the back of the hook. I'm not sure if that is how they're now being made, or a special batch, but I do know they are recent. FelineVet and Nuts4Knives from SOSAK over at KnifeForums have both been able to get them in the past.

I've gone one and I like it a lot!

Wenger is athe same QC wise. The big difference is the blades with springs use an integral lever and not the slip in/slip outleaf spring vic uses. SAK's by either are issue Swiss Military.

The Wenger tin opener can fold up and chomp your finger. The Tinker tin opener is brilliant and gives a clean inside cut to the can so that you can use it for an emergency coffee mug (wire handled for heat) withouit losing your top lip. The T position of the crosshead on the Tinker limits depth but is brilliant. I miss the slit which was great for opening bully-beef tins whn the key was broken or missing. And I miss the hole in the auger bit for leather sewing.
