Hey all. I've been having trouble with my Zancudo and it's time to buy a new knife. I would prefer a folder but if anybody knows of a good fixed blade that works I will definitely consider it. I've been looking at some Kershaws. I like the Skyline and the Leek. I've also been looking at the Esee Avispa and the Rat 2. Just wondering if there's anything out there I haven't stumbled upon during my research. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you like kershaw I would look at their new link, looks quite promising for 40 bucks

The Leek and Skyline are both excellent knives, good build quality and very good steel for the price. If you like those two, I'd also consider the CRKT Eros SS and Ripple; the older Ripple with a framelock and Acuto steel is on sale a couple places right now for around $50.

I agree with those who said Ontario Rat 1 or Rat 2 and Kershaw Skyline.

And I would add:

Kershaw Thermite *
Kershaw Cryo G10 * (the all metal model is too slippery IMO)
Spyderco Tenacious
CRKT Shenanigan PPS/Z *

The * denotes models that are assisted, in case you see that as a minus or a plus.

I carry an Ontario Rat 1 more than any other knife, even though I have a ZT0550 in my EDC rotation. of course, I'm not saying the RAT is a better knife than the ZT, just that I end up carrying it more often.

If you can find a CRKT Ripple - the framelock model with ACUTO blade steel - for under $50 as another poster suggested, that would be a good choice as well!

Here are 3 I would recommend:

Keyshawn Skyline gets my vote:thumbup: I feel it is one of the best 3" EDC knives out there and a great value! And I own 100+ knives ranging anywhere from $30-1000:D

Delica off the exchange I've seen plenty for the $50-$55 mark, heck of a step up from a tenacious, or budjet Kershaw in my opinion

I recently picked up the Gerber Order and I highly recommend it. It is extremely capable, light weight, made in the usa, and around $35.
