Hi guy I was just curious about what you favorite edc is for around 70-80 bucks. I will prob buy a new 1 to put in my rotation. I prefer spyderco but would be open to anything. Just don't say the tenacious series. Include pics if possible.

What do you do? What kind of chores or activities will your EDC be expected to perform?

Using "Best" is subjective to each individual.

Get a small stockman slipjoint from Case. The people who happen to be nearby won't think you are that deranged.

I like the Halo. It's a little big and I guess out of your price range but you'll be ready for anything! :D

Boxes, letters, paper that sorta thing. I will also use it rarely for food prep camping and fishing

I carry the giant halo in my change pocket. Hardly notice its there. Just walk around with a stiff leg and tell people you have and old war wound.

Price is important but also very important are factors such as what handle material you want, what lock type, what blade size, etc.

My personal EDC for the past several years was a standard Benchmade mini-grip. More recently I have retired it and replaced it with several different knives that I will carry, one of which is a Tenacious. I find nothing wrong with the Tenacious other than its country of origin and the only mark against the Tenacious is that you can also buy a Paramilitary 2. Of the current Spyderco line my favorites for EDC would be the Paramilitary 2 or the Sage. You could add a little more to your budget and get either of these.

You should really consider a spyderco centofante, great EDC knife it looks modern, and it is quite affordable. Great blade profile, and can be a user and easily a classy folder.

My EDC in that price range is the Spyderco Manix 2 lightweight translucent blue frn, the Spyderco Native frn, Spyderco endura/delica.

Thanks for all the great comments. I think i will get the manix 2 lightweight. Is there any thing I should know about it any negatives?

Never had a manix. But I can suggest a Spyderco Delica or Endura for around $60.

I like Delicia's and enduras but Delicas blade is too short and enduras is too long. The manix is in the middle and made of a similar handle material. Plus I think the ball bearing lock looks easier to close with one hand and more interesting.

For outdoors use i have found that a small Fixed Blade (7" and under) carried in a sheath on the belt is the easiest to use and can cut just as well as larger knives. At this size it does not get in the way as you move about, sit, etc and is easier to get out of it's sheath than it is to fish a folder out of your pocket. Also as the blade is always 'open' your free hand can keep holding onto whatever it is you want to cut.
If you check the Knifemakers For Sale, Fixed Blades forum you can buy a new very well made custom "Utility" style FB and sheath, for $80-$90.
PM me if you want the names of some of the knifemakers whose blades i have bought at this price and find to be excellent (sharp and tough).
