That is the problem with asking "what's the best" anything. One mans best is another mans worst.
IMO the CQC-8 is "the best" knife Emerson make, it's not my favorite and it's not the best looking but it is the best user.
It has enough blade to be of use in a number roles but isn't so big it gets in the way. The some what "commader-esc" handle is great is any grip position and makes for a nice comfortable knife. The knife is quite long closed but it's slim so it carries well. The blade shape is a classic and has been used for along time. It's easy to sharpen and can handle every thing from bushcraft to kitchen duties to cutting up bad guys.
