Hi,
I'm looking for a blade for everyday carry but that still has a lot of self defense properties. Spyderco knives would be preferable.

-Thanks

The Millie is a good choice. Another great one, IMO, is the Paramilitary 2, with a 3.3" blade, compression lock, wonderful Spyderco model. A favorite of many for EDC.

Manix 2 XL. Just pull the thumb slides and the blade flips open AND closed one-handed. Faster than my Military.

In your other post, I have suggested the Matriarch or a Superhawk. You can buy these in plain edge and the Matriarch has a thicker tip than its big brother, the Civilian.

A SPyderco with the Emerson "Wave" hands down or just get a Emerson. you can deploy it faster than an auto with a little practice and it will open a bottle of beer. I would say the Spyderco endura with wave an dit will also make a nice EDC. Just remember that a pocket knife is your last ditch no other options left defensive tool. It will be messy and takes a certain person to plunge a knife in to another person you need to be willing to do that. Fact of the matter is any Folding knife can be used as a defensive tool. Some good advie I recived many years back when I was a young turd was "Never bring a Knife to a gun fight" and "never bring knife to a knife fight".

For the past 14 years, my EDC folder has been an Endura with the combo edge. You won't likely ever need your knife for defense, so make that a secondary consideration when choosing a blade. The Endura has served me well enough, so I don't feel the need to update.

BM 530, CS Ti Lite, CS Counter Point, CS Hold Out. All Excellent knives, and not Spyderco.

You don't know when you will need it for self defense and it could be very helpful

That last piece of advice is very sound.

If I was going to get a spyderco I would have to vote for the Brad Southard. It is similar to the ZT 0560 which is my favorite edc of all time.

Family dinner, talking to my brother-in-law, a police officer. Showed him my new knife, a Benchmade Emerson, flicked it open. He told me that: "Never bring a knife to a gun fight." I asked, "Where's the gun?"

Bring a knife. You never know when it's going to be the answer.

I like the Military a lot. Not a gentleman's knife, though. :)
Among Spydercos, the Enduras are also good.
