Best fast drying rust protection?

IIRC one actual salt spray rusting test reported on here indicated that Fluid Film was about the best rust protector that they tried but I am not sure if it dries or not. Instructions indicate it "does not dry out" so may be best for unsheath stored knives rather than regular use or leather sheath stored knives. I have a spray can of it but have not yet actually tried it.

Here's my real question: if you don't know how to care for a carbon steel knife, then why don't you just get an H1 knife?

Yes...Thanks for all of the useful comments. Think the CLP and Rem Oil Tef that I already have will be the ticket. Both will buff dry as to nearly vanish. I also have some knives that I plan to keep, but not use on foodstuffs - or maybe anything. Just enjoy some pretty one's to collect, and some with lesser beauty to use...Cheers.

Eezox should work well for you. It has always done well on unbiased tests. It sprays on and becomes a dry film coating.

Not quite. It's been shown in test after test to be the best at corrosion protectiona and I use it all the time on my guns/knives. That said, you must wipe it around(off) to LEAVE a thin film, then allow it to dry. It takes some time for the solvent aspect to evaporate and leave the waxes behind. Almost smells like a feminine cologne, LOL. If you spray it on, thick, it will 'dry' to a gooey texture, which attract dust and crud like crazy.

Best coating I have used in terms of quick drying is Smooth Kote, but I'm sure the Teflon layer left by it is not food safe. To my knowledge, A Tuff Cloth is food safe, but the coating left by the marine one is terrible and comes right off like it wasn't there. Good for storage but that's about it.
I don't know about the Marine version but the regular Tuf Cloth/Tuf Glide you can wipe off the film that's left behind when it dries and it will still protect the metal.

FLUID FILM ! It works. It does not dry. It is a Powerful Rust Inhibitor. Google it. Magic in a can. Seriously !!! My truck is undercoated with this stuff. MANY other uses as well.:D

I was using these food safe mineral oil wipes....

But now I got the Eezox premium knife care spray and small applicator.

Eezox is amazing stuff I use it to protect my guns but I wouldn't cut up any food with a blade treated with it you might grow a third arm or something. In all seriousness the amount that would actually contact the food probably wouldn't hurt you but why take the chance if ya don't have to. We're did ya get those food safe wipes?

I got them from the department store with the Red "bullseye" on it..... They are also at a place like bed bath and further LMAO... I dont want to get in trouble for deal spotting

They are called Architec Block Oil Wipes, If you google the name you should find them.

Yes, this has been my experience. But t has been everything I wanted it to be. Probably won't ever change unless years later I find something that is non-toxic and I can spray in my room, and dries faster, and is as good or better at rust protection, lol.

Is that any different than the Premium Gun Care style. I looked at the specs and they seem the same.
