BEST FBM combo for INVESTMENT purposes.

On the other end of the scale, what's the best combo for INVESTMENT purposes?

IE; what combo would bring a premium a year or three down the road? If any extra cost options are suggested, would those extra costs make enough more money to justify the risk/expense?

IE, if the blk & tan Mag handles cost another $85, would they add enough to to the value down the road to matter? Or would I be lucky to recoup the $85 they cost me?

Just curious what your opinions are.

:D

My opinion is that you should collect for the fun in collecting, if you only want to collect for cash then collect money instead:)

Something is only "worth" what someone will give you for it.

The real value in a Busse is that if you were to travel to a far off land where the equipment you cary at any given moment is the only thing between you and your maker and there is no hardware store for miles around you have a knife that will not fail. You will still still have this knife, 20 years from now after all the others have failed and or fallen apart.

When you get to the point of thinking about handle options you are talking personal preference. How the knife feels for you. When you spend 400 bucks on a functional (bullet proof) blade like a Busse, you are buying reliability.

Wooo.......that hurts......but how true

damn hotrodKelley, read your words and glance over my cameras, my lenses, my flashlight, blades......f*cking list goes on in my room.

I just got a chill on my back. I could have been a rich man if I DC the money I put on those "collection" of mine. :(

Vestments!!?? Vestmetns??!!?

We dont need no stinking Vestments!! We justa gona Chop Chop Chop!!

:D  :D

I agree with Kelley, but I bought a couple for trade bait.

Every one says I wish the snake skin grips were magnums.

I'm going the opposite way. The snake skins are probably pretty uncomon because of the cost and the fact that they are standard thickness.

I don't think you could get your money back on camo so I got Urban Grey with Snakeskin.

The other trade bait is an FBMLE. The combination of .320" Infi, satin finish and no CBT will make it very desireable.

I'm hoping I might be able to turn it in to an old school straight handle Steel Heart some day.

I agree with the esteemed Mr. Kelley. . . BUT

I would think anything Snakeskin is a big deal b/c some day, theoretically, snakeskin will be no more.

combo-color G10 tends to be popular.

Mag handles are more desired than non-mag handles.

FMBLE's will be the most desired some day - altho a lot of guys got multiples, so it's hard to say.

The true answer: Get what you like. Fudge investing. They will ALL appreciate.

From Business (selling) point of view. Blk/Blk Micarta is most easier to get out of the door. Yes, you earn less money for each one. They are easiest to sell say FBMLE, or other special combo cuz you expect/ask for more.

With that said, in order to make sick money. You have to sell in mass quantity. You get 100 Blk/Blk Micarta FBM ($500 range), you will earn more/faster than selling 100 FBMLE. (1000+ range) 100 Special combo ($800 range)

Simply, not many ppl are into 1000+ a blade kinda market. But if you hv 100 FMBLE or 100 special combo or 100 FBM Blk/blk, i am sure you will be very cool in Busse forum. :D

A fast nickle is always better than a slow dime. So I agree with wuyeah.
There are much better ways to invest your money than buying Busse knives. That said, if you decide you don't want them in a few months or years, you should get all of your money back, minimum. And that is if you use it. I did on all five of my straight handled Busses. I put them on the exchange and they all sold used for around 150.00 more than I paid for them. And I was kinda a lowballer selling them for around 500.00 most were getting 600.00 at the time.

Not only are there better ways to invest your money, but frankly, if you get into Busses because you think you can make some $, I think you will very quickly eliminate any and all fun that you could have had otherwise.

I have always said, "You only live once, but if you live well, once is enough!" What I don't say is that living well involves a whole hell of a lot more than making a little bit of money for a whole lot of effort.

I'm ending week week four waiting on my jungle shadow camo / black canvas mag order, so those must be harder to get out the door. :D

Funny thing.

Like you, I bought a few Busse for the "investment" point of view a yr ago.

My exact thought: "I will definately sell them after a yr or two. Fast cash, why not! It will be stupid of me not to buy it now and sell, sell, sell." Exactly as I expected. All Busse price go up, (except WB, which i don't hv), and i am "oh yeah"!! "Horay"!!

Suppose I should go....SELL, right. That is what I intend to do. Then I did not  Why? Are you stupid or something?

After I knowing they worth so much.....I don't want to sell them:p

perhaps you are different. Yet, I thought I was different too.

The flip side is that having a Busse to sell in the future that you don't like that much can sell for a higher price, enabling you to buy a more expensive one that you do like or like better. I don't think too many of us are millionaires so investing in order to move up makes sense. The only sacrifice is the waiting period for the new Busses.

If someone recommends a specific combo, and everyone reading this buys that combo, thenthere will be too many of that combo to allow one individual piece to command a premium, because everybody and their hog will have one.

Simple supply/demand economics applied.

Buy what you like.

If you can sell it at a profit later, cool.

If not, you still have something you like.

i have to say i am sick of the folks just buying to sell..... these folks just suck.... i wanna see these knives used and worked, sorry if this offends anyone, but honestly the folks it would offend.... ah nevermind

I can see your point if someone buys 10 of "this" and immediately sells ten of them.

I wish I had bought some Crispy Creme stock when it went down to like $5 a share because of the Atkins diets now it's at $11.00 and climbing.

I use the "investment" argument when telling my girlfriend I just bought another Busse...;)
