BEST FBM combo for INVESTMENT purposes.

I bought Bank of America just to sell it, that was in 1988. It is at about $55.00 now and my cost is maybe $2.00 a share and every year they send me a few bucks a share.

Am I a stock collector or a dam buy/seller?

Anyway knives are not the best thing to invest in. But then for every $100,000 I had to invest I could see having 15% in collectibles like knives, art and stuff like that.

So VTW if I was going to just "invest" in your art would you still sell me some, or do I have to use it?

Not only are there better ways to invest your money, but frankly, if you get into Busses because you think you can make some $, I think you will very quickly eliminate any and all fun that you could have had otherwise.

That and the fact that most of us don't think much of someone who hogs up a boat load of knives specifically to turn a buck in a month. I personally will not give a dime to a guy I suspect is involved in such behaviour.

Can't ya give a brother a straight answer? Possibly there is no magic combo but if you buy more than one of any particular Busse and do not intend to keep it or give it away, then you most likely bought it for an investment of some sort right? I see people posting here all the time that they bought one to use and one to keep in the safe. Shoot, they buy dozens at a time in many cases. Of course I can stash some cash in the bank, IRA, CD, or whatever, but it doesnt give me the feel of the postman coming to my door with a box of INFI. Do you take your bank statement out and play with it? Take a long hard look at the posts here (exchange). People are INVESTING in these knives. I dont know of too many places that you can take a few hundred dollars and turn a pretty nice profit on that small an amount in a very short time. I see it happen in the exchange all the time. Buy a Mud Skelly for 167 and sell it for 200 or more. Put the calculator to that boys, its a pretty good rate of return. Same with the GW's right now and many others. It is what it is.
Putting that in perspective, you are not going to get rich off of small purchases of Busses, but lots of folks are acquiring a nice collection for nothing or near nothing after playing this game. If the only people that bought Busse knives used them, he would go out of business. They dont wear out and you only have 2 hands! Most all of us collect, buy, sell, and enjoy these wonderful tools. Many of them are bought just to resell. David E, I do not have enough experience with buying and selling these knives to know what particular combo or line will bring you a profit (I have mostly been a user) but it indeed appears to be the norm here to buy while they are there and sell for a profit when they are not. Keep your eyes open on the exchange, do your research, and see what brings the bucks. It's half the fun anyway. To all those who say buy em to use: I say I do but you will see a much larger percentage of new unused ones on the exchange than the users................

I use the "investment" argument when telling my girlfriend I just bought another Busse...

lol.

"Investment" is a great word for guns, knives, and a new harley night train.

Interesting responses to what I thought was a simple question......

I've decided to make my 3rd one the Tan/Blk-tan combo. That ones looks REAL cool to my eyes !

And if I choose to sell it later and make a little bit of money to reinvest in newer INFI, why should that bother any of you? ESPECIALLY if it's the combo YOU are missing and wish you had bought "Back when...." and then one becomes available !!

.

Buy a Mud Skelly for 167 and sell it for 200 or more.
Let's do the math

From Busse
$167.00 Knife
$14.95 Busse Shipping
$181.95 To your door after a wait of weeks or months

On the Exchange
$200.00 Sale
-$181.96 To Your Door price from Busse
-$x.xx Shipping cost, time, and expense to ship

Even if your shipping cost is $0, your profit is $18.04. Less than that for practically everybody because of the shipping.

What can anyone buy for $18 these days?

If someone is willing to pay the price, it'll sell. Otherwise it'll sit.

Well said dialton. Buy, use, resell without using, make a profit - Isn't capitalism what made America great! Other countries would call this abusing the masses, profiteering, and generally anti-socialist. Economists would call it supply and demand economics. Which, by the way, works to both the buyer's and the seller's advantage. (People don't buy, if the price is too high.)

to answer your question honestly if you told me you were buying one of my paintings to stick in a box under your bed i would not sell it to you, however if you were going to hang it on the wall and look at it for ten years and then sell it i guess that would be your choice, i guess i am not opposed to buying and selling busses but..... i still reserve the right to be grumpy about it...lol

That is approx. a 10% return on your relatively small investment in a relatively short time frame. Not too shabby but like I said, you are not going to get rich. If you bought a GROUP of them and wanted to mess with it you would get your toys for free.

Yes, I am happy now! Straight answers make me happy. So does alchohol!

As for me, I will just keep getting mine the regular way I suppose and sell/trade until I get one that I just can't let go of. I have seen some really cool sets out there that I am very envious of. All lined up and purty!!! I am a little miffed by the SOWs that I am seeing posted. Where did those come from? I came around too late?

BTW it was indeed a very simple question. We just like to joust a bit sometimes. No harm intended. :D
