I was wondering what would be good to take to sharpen a 6-10" knife when you go in the woods? Somtimes when I am clearing trails with my RTAK wicked knife it gets dull and it makes hard cutting.

A few options I've found useful.

1- The Leatherman Wave or PST2 with diamond sharpening blade.

2- EZ Lap diamond sharpener. The cylindrical one that fits into a little brass tube.

3- DMT folding hone. These fold up like a butterfly knife. You can get them with a different grit on each side.

4- a piece of ceramic rod.

I use a 6" x 1.5"(or so) flat diamond stone of unknown manufacture. I bought it in a hardware store while passing through Altoona. I ripped the thick wooden base off.

I use it to fix up my 710 and Project 1. It's maybe a little short for my tastes for the Project, but it does the job. Plus, it's nigh invulnerable.
