Best fighter under $200?

That's true about the company knife - I had one & it's a freaking scary blade, all fighter, meant for bad bad things. Smaller and lighter than a Hell's Belle by far, but still pretty chunky for comfortable concealed carry. Excellent handle, guides you to the target like it's computer-controlled.

There are a lot of good bowies in the $200 range if you're looking for somethng big. A Cold Steel Trailmaster does not qualify in my case because it is so dad gum heavy there is no way I can could control in fast moves.

One that rarely gets mentioned is the Camillus CQB-1 or 2. If that isn't a great fighter, what is? ATS-34 steel and an overall great design thanks to Bob T.

Newt Livesay's knives are real sleepers. They don't have fancy sheaths but, at it's pricepoint, a darn good knife. Just pick your poison, a Company Knife would be a comforting companion in a dark parking lot.

If you like smaller things, seems like Dozier has a firm grasp on that market as well.

on the larger side there are these:

Pointy, dual integral gaurds and a better steel than a SOG

They are an Italian Tactical Knife maker, and have just started being imported into the US market (www.1sks.com is carring them)

The model pictured is the Doberman II. (note since the picture was taken the handles have been made user removable and interchangable with a new style)

The Steel is N690, it's a euro steel with a very similar chemical make-up to VG-10 (read identical) , they run it at 58RC.

Becker Magnum Camp is a good one to bring to a knife fight. And for $200.00 you can have one for each hand.IMHO:)

It is NOT because I just happen to have one available for sale/trade right now but because I believe they are a great handling, well made knife of superior materials. I am speaking, of course, about the BG-42 Titanium Nitride coated, tanto, chisel ground partially serrated SOG Recondo!

The history of how this knife came into development, coupled with the explicitly non armchair warrior input makes this one of the all time best bets in the price range specified. If you shop around and buy right, you could get a user and a keeper for $200.

Hmmm, under $200... well, I live in S.A. where we earn inferior Rands, so the equivalent of $200 is a s@#$load, so I'll tell you about what I consider great buys, but most are around $100. If you want a knife for defensive purposes you need a fixed blade :

SOG Tsunami, Recondo, Pentagon, Seal 2000
Gerber Mk1, Guardian, Yari
Camillus CQB 1
Cold Steel Safekeepers, Recon Tanto
Benchmade Nimravus
Kershaw Amphibiam

Just love the SOGs, just a pitty the sheathes aren't so great for concealment. I have not had the priviledge of handling a SOG Recondo or a Camillus CQB 1 yet as local dealers haven't had any yet. It is purely due to reading a lot of material that they fit in with my requirements. The Nimravus is somewhere between $100 to $200. If I was in the States I'd be looking at some of those TOPs knives as well that fall in the under $200 category.

Sometimes it isn't practical to carry a fixed blade. On such occassions a good affordable knife like a Spyderco Endura, Delica, Harpy, Native etc or a CRKT KFF or M16 are just great. Most of these can still be found at around $50, which is good value, and you won't need to conduct a funeral for the knife if it is lost in action :)

I would agree with who-ever mentioned to Livesay Company Knife... I miss mine a lot. A fine weapon... and definately just that, a weapon.

I carry one of Rob's Urban Ravens. If the MidTech is anything close [and I have a couple of the big Ravens on order...so me bets they are:)], it is a knife that you simply must buy. It is one of the best knives of its size I have ever encountered...and SHARP.

Under $200 and before the UR comes out? Livesay Company knife. For its price it is awesome, and very, very fast with the IWB sheath.

Agreeing with what others said, I'd like to throw one more suggestion into the mix: Tactical Model 2 from Ryan Wilson (he used to be with Wilson Combat but now I believe he has a separate company). The knife features 5" D2 blade, has extremely ergonomic handle and is in general very good looking.

And one more thing: it goes for around $195.

This is The Friend by Charlie Porter. It is 8" and feels great in the hand. $200

If you are looking for something a little smaller Rob makes great stuff. I have the larger Raven and love it.

The Greco's here www.cqcknives.com really are good deals on hand made cutlery.

Also check out Entrek they make a nice fighter in the 4in blade size.

And there is always more from Italy this is the Extrema Ratio Harpoon, an 8.5 in bladed monster:

Just my personal opinion but since no one else has mentioned it the Camillus USMC fighting/utility knife. Can be found for $35-40 including shipping and handling with kydex sheath, almost as well balanced as a CQB1, light weight, easy to sharpen, and most importantly it's been proven in combat.

I saw a recommendation for the S&W HRT Combat Knife on another thread. It is suprisingly inexpensive for a knife with a 440C blade. I have seen prices varying from $50 to a bit over $60 on internet dealer sites. The knife has a seven inch recurved blade.
