Here is the problem with Chinese files. You might have an experience like the one you describe, then the next time you may get a set that dull on the first pass. I have some Chinese stuff, some is great some is good and a lot is horrible.
I hear that! I hate wasting money on stuff that doesn't work... especially tools. This thread is really great. It cuts right to the chase which saves so much time and money and quickens our ability to raise quality and profit.
For those purists that don't think profit is all that important, just remember, it is the profit that funds lifes "little surprises"... and things like retirement.
Speaking of which, and not to get off topic, but considering the super fantastic quality and artwork that i see in many of the knives made today, the prices the knifemakers (some of whom have posted in this thread) themselves are charging are way too little for this high level of "tangibility" and the knowledge required to produce it.
