I have a lot of trouble with grinding and burning my fingers. What do you all use to protect your fingers? I bought some leather ones from Trugrit and they worked pretty well for a while but they're getting thin and not working too well now.

I used to keep some narrow masking tape on the table and tape my fingertips before grinding.

Your brain. Don't put your fingers in an area where they get burned. If I have to put pressure on a hot area I use a push stick

I change belts frequently so the blade doesn't get too hot.

Try Rhyno fingers. I think thats right. He's on here. I believe they are neoprene. I have the one's you have and don't care for them. The neoprene would be much better. Changing belts would be a good idea but if your as cheap as I am that's hard to do even when you know better.

You might want to contact Laurence at www.rhinoknives.com . He sells Rhino Fingers to help you grind. He is a forum member from Santa Monica , Ca and makes excellent cutlery also. Larry

Rhinoknives. That's who I was thinking of. He's probably at blade now. His should work much better than those leather ones.

Another plug for Laurence. I only make paperthin chef knives and do a lot of grinding on hardned steel. Finger skins are a godsend

I'll definitely check out his site and see if the skins would be something for me. My main concern was that I'd grind through them accidentally and they aren't as cheap to replace as the others.
