Best fixed blade SOG in your opinion?

thanks i will haha

when i first heard of the revolver, it caught my attention really a well haha  but im just looking for a big knife  take care everyone!

yeah I always liked the fixed (6 to 7 inch)blade best.
folders just get loose or break when using them hard.

I Carry Both A Sog Seal Revolver And A Sog Seal Pup On My Camping Trips - Plus A Good Swiss Army Knife Or Some Other Good Folder.

I don't have anymore fixed blade SOGs.:( The only ones I owned were the Recon-Bowie and the SCUBA/DEMO. They have been discontinued. Wait a mintue! I still have a GOV-TAC! :)

It probably depends on how you camp, if its like a primitive survival camping ,you know build a lean-to gather and chop firewood ,build a fire with a flint and so on then i'd go Tigershark. If however you are pitching a tent with the fam or using a camper with more modern comforts then something as small as the field pup would take care of widdling a weiner roasting stick ,or opening food packaging. I own both and they're great knives , just my two cents.

I really like the Seal Pup Elite. I have a number of the old Tech blades which I think are awesome. Don't have the current Tech.

The Hunter Revolver is an excellent practical camping knife. It probably doesn't have the coolness factor of the Tech, but for using, it would be hard to beat especially if you are back packing and weight is an issue.

Like the OP, the Hunter Revolver was not the first SOG I bought. My first was actually the field pup which is an excellent all around camp knife for cooking, game preparation, and slicing. It is really light and easy to yield safely.

what happened to the ones you used to own?

i still haven't gotten the knife yet...lebaron is closed on sundays :( i shall try today....

is the tigershark and the seal team elite pretty much the same knives after you take out the hand guard on the tiger shark? i think i heard that the tigershark is bigger, but other than that, is there anything different?

i thought a lot of people would like the seal team elite, but i guess not haha

the Seal Team though ,almost the same as the Team Elite I DO like A LOT.
it is sharp as hell ,it is very able to hack wood, done that.and it stabs as well as or even better than a dagger.
it is a simple but very efficient knife.

those are two different knives .

the Seal 2000 and the Seal Team.
the first made of AUS 6 steel ,and the Seal Team made of AUS 8 steel.
the Seal Team has a 7 inch blade yes.like the Seal 2000 ,like the Seal Team Elite.

and as far as I know the Seal Team has the same blade material as the Seal Team Elite.
differences are the Seal Team has no spine rasp.and it has a grey coloured finish where the Seal Team Elite has a black finish.
the handles are the same ,of the Seal Team and the Elite.a little harder and more slender than the zytel of the Seal 2000.
to me it feels better than the somewhat thick handle of the Seal 2000.

I accidentally won an auction on a Randall Model #1 with stag handle. I needed to sell some fixed blades to make up the difference before Mrs. Culpeper found out. I couldn't believe my luck on the Randall price but sadly had to sell some to get one.

The specs on the knives you ask are on SOGs website for each individual knife.

ooooh wow alright! thanks noviomagus!

wow culpeper..you won an auction eh..thats pretty cool :)

i have yet to get my knife haha im only 17.. .can't buy it without my mom haha:)

alright well thanks for answering my questions everybody :) take care!

If you want a BIG knife, the Tigershark is the one for you! If you want a knife you will use, then a Tech Bowie or Seal Pup Elite (plain edge) would work better. I understand the coolness factor with a big blade. I smile everytime I slide one of my Tigersharks out of the sheath. The problem is, I don't use the blade for anything. For simple camp chores it is hard to beat a Field Pup or Seal Pup Elite and a folder you have confidence in using for smaller or detailed tasks. I have a lot to choose from in the folder department. I like the SOG Mini-Vulcan and a good old SAK Adventurer. If you are backpacking, you'll find one of the SOG revolver designs quite useful.

Go buy that knife. Then you can think about buying another one!

oh yeah true....hmmm....maybe i'll get the revolver and the tech bowie! :P the LeBaron over here doesn't have the tigershark, and i can't seem to find any SOG knives at vaughan mills' bass pro shop lol

dude!!! its all about the seal team elite man with serrations because then u can cut things down easier in my opinion. like branches and such. that knife is awesome its a work of art!!! i bought that thing a couple weeks ago and i definitely dont regret it! i also have a smith and wesson homeland security and its nice too but it is a little too hard to sharpen and generally dull but its goood for hacking and such but the sog seal team elite is definitely better!!!!!!!!!
