Best Fixed Blade Under $200.00???

Shane,

For under $300.00 ($250.00), you can get my "Special" model - you can see it at...

Actually, all my knives at http://kukri.itc.virginia.edu are under $300.00 (except the ivory handled Bowie, and you might win that one if you buy a ticket)

Take care,

Having just had a look at the latest Blade magazine, at $170.00 I would have to say that the Camillus Talon would be an excellent choice. I am not sure that that is the right price but if so, what a bargain.

My dad gave me a Dozier, it looks like a General Purpose Hunter, and it's one of my favorite knives. In some fields an effective, straightforward, clean solution that transcends the typical is sometimes described as elegant. Dozier knives are elegant, something that almost everyone that looks at it recognizes, non-knife knuts included. Trouble is it's got me pining for a Slim Outdoorsman, a Straight Hunter, and the smaller Elk Hunter.

For less than $200 I'm also looking at some sort of CPM-3V knife.

Hate to break out a shameless plug for myself, but I've got a Dozier Pro-Guide for sale right now in the for sale forum. It's got Dozier's original sheath and a custom concealex sheath by Normark (Eric Noeldechen) which is fantastic. Check it out if interested. Thanks.

Professor.

It really depends on what you are going to use it for. I have the Shadow IV and really like it for camping and tough chores where I don't want to carry a Project-1, my favorite fixed blade.

You could do much worst than to purchase a Sable, or other Chris Reeve One Piece and something like an SRK for a user/beater.

I have absolutely nothing against Dozier or Busse, except that I have neither owned nor used them but have been most favorably satisfied with my Chris Reeve's One pice knives. For the money, a better sharpened pry bat thatn the SRK is hard to beat, especially when you consider the sheath you get with it.

Happy Hunting
