Best flipping action of all?

G&G Hawk Tangent. Like nothing else out there.

Depends because there are different types of flipping actions. Also are we only talking about opening or closing too? There is the snappy detent found on ZTs that makes for a good action because alot of pressure is built up before the detent breaks. There are knives like my Southard that have a less hard detent but seem to rely on smoothness to get a great action.

That said I hear that the G and G Hawk Dauntless is far and away the best flipper due to the hawk lock exerting zero pressure on the blade between closes and open positions. That said I have never felt it myself. I also hear the A2, the Shiros and the Norsemen apparently have legendary flipping actions.

I am not sure which of my knives has far and away the best action. I have several knives with very good flipping actions and I haven’t really ranked them from best to worst, though some are obviously better than others.

Steve Skiff's Accomplice framelock has the best flipping action in my experience.

Only speaking from my limited personal experience:

1. Shirogorov 111 - super smooth on deployment though not super fast. Just as smooth to drop shut
2. Koenig Arius - very similar to the 111. Doesn’t drop quite as briskly. Gets bonus points for multiple deployment methods. Some have complained about sharpness of the flipper tab. Don’t know if it’s due to the stonewashed finish or just because I’ve an updated version, but mine’s comfortable and perfect.
3. Rod Olson M9 Custom - benefits from a high position of the flipper tab relative to the pivot. The blade free falls immediately upon button push. If you’ve never tried a button lock, you really should.

It has the best closing action I have ever experienced. I think there are better knives on the open. It's still stupidly good.

The best I have experienced have been the Koenig Arius and the Shiro 95T. Not honestly sure which one I'd say is better. Probably the Arius.

The clear runner up though, and big time winner of the value equation is the ZT 0801TI. The best action I've ever had on a ZT and the best action I can possibly imagine for under $200. So, so underrated.

I'd personally place Shiros and Thorburns ahead of the Hawk Dauntless, but it is certainly unique and very mechanically satisfying. It is probably more fun to fidget with though, due to the Hawk lock.

the best flipper I have would probably be my guardian tactical helix nano.

My vote is for Thorburn, I own a couple of his knives and handled a ton at Bladeshow. All had great action. However, GT has their Helix dialed in too. It's one snappy freaking knife!

I wouldn't say it's the best money-no-object flipper by any means, but I'd place the Skaha pretty high in the bang-for-the-buck category.

Most any ZT, my favorite is the 0801 and the 452
The smoothest flipper I have is a Shirogorov 111 CD and a F3
Hoback makes a smooth flipper

The 801 has a great action! I would often read people rating it amongst the best back when it first came out. Seems like everyone forgot about it and claims the 452 is one of the smoothest now.

My 452 is very smooth but my 562 is equally a great flipper. I often hear people saying the 392 is among the best and although mine is quite good it is not better than my 801, 452 or 562.

Absolutely, I've got 3 0801's, there's no doubt it is the best flipper IMO ZT has ever produced. I carry the 0801 the most out of the ZT's I own. The 0095 is my favorite blade style, it's an ok flipper. Haven't carried the 462 enough to call it a favorite yet.

I love Jake Hoback and his knives and his flipper is super smooth (sometime
Mushy IMHO) I don’t enjoy his flipping action as much as others though. Not a knock on him or his knives just saying there are others I enjoy slightly more.
