Best Folder by Price Point

If you had a handful of cash of the following sizes, what EDC folder would you buy? $20, $40, $75, $100 (anything higher would be uncivilized).

I figured I'd go (+/- $10), since some knives would cost a little under the exact prices you specified, and some would cost a little over. In the end, I think it all evens out.

$20 (+/- $10): Victorinox Farmer

$40 (+/- $10): Spyderco Tenacious.

$75 (+/- $10): Kershaw Lahar

$100 (+/- $10): Spyderco Caly 3.

Thanks, Al. They certainly work for me, not that I haven't substantially added to list, thinking, this deal just can't be beat! And then another one comes out that I just can't resist.....And so on.....And so on. You know how it goes!;):D

Dozier folders from Ka Bar seems to be till that moment most valuable. I have clip point and hunter and just can say positive things about both.

Very true, Cabala, those Ka-Bar Doziers are an incredible value for their price! I completely forgot about those. For the $20 (+/-) category, they should definitely be included!

For a cheap $20 knife you can't argue with a Mora or another of the lesser expensive knives of the same ilk from the same part of the world. These are the definition of users.

$40 you have a few choices but nothing I'd stick with. Personally if you feel like you can spend $100 then spend it. Get a good one and enjoy the quality of the better folder. There are a lot of values out there in that price range.

Some Kershaws are available, made in the USA, good blade steel, great smoothness and bang for the buck. Some that come to mind, Junk Yard Dog I and II, Shallot, Blur, Gents LockBack folder.

Spyderco, same way. Look them over. No one can do much but name the models but you need to do the search. The Native is a value and great blade steel to boot. The Delica has proven itself time and time again.

In the higher priced $100 plus model I'd go with something like a BenchMade HK 14210 for $106 plus or minus. For a few more bucks you can bump that up and get perhaps one of the best all around models and values available IMO and get the HK 14205 . If all %#*% broke lose tomorrow and I had to pick one folder to carry with my other survival gear I'd probably grab that HK 14205 and not look back I think.

Blade Tech Ganyana Lite $20
Spyderco Tenacious $26
Buck Vantage Pro $30
Spyderco Native $40
Kabar Dozier folders $20
These are the best non-sale prices I've seen on these knives.

Kabar Dozier folders get a big thumbs up, well built and aus8 for 20 to 30$
I buy them for the guys at work(pest control) they get used hard and nobody cries if it's lost in an attic or crawlspace.

I'd do it more like this:

$10 - Opinel

I'll second the Opinels!

And I'll add:

$15 - Douk-Douk

In either case though, the user will wanna be the sort that likes sharpening and doing it often. These babies are made of ol' fashioned steel like grandpa probably used, and as such requires maintenance now and then. I include this caveat because I know not everyone likes carbon steels that won't shave hair after 20,000 cuts of 1" manila rope. ;)

-Victorinox
-Boker Trance

Ahhhh, of course, who could forget Victorinox!!! :D

You can get any size, shape, or form of Victorinox for under $40  Then get a pouch if you don't want to pocket it, extra $10-20

See Below

Oh yeah, buy a buck 110, can't go wrong with it.

Hey, J!!
Where's my CQC-7!!??

LOL, calling right now  I had MAJOR car trouble today, radiator tube blew out and my car overheated on the way to school. I just logged on to kill some time. I missed my physics lab so that puts me back :grumpy: I'm actually good at that class and was looking forward to it :p

Buy this!!
Take your time, J. I'm on your list. :D

Not you, the OP, I was trying to stay on topic without going off topic while speaking of stuff that wasn't on topic, savvy? :p

Boker Hyper.
Or Trance.

Guys.

Both of you know better. Conduct your deals where they need to be conducted.
Not in this forum and especially not in someone else's thread. Both of you should be embarrassed to have done what you did.

When I first glanced at this thread I read the title as "Best knife by Fisher Price". The bad part is that this is with my new glasses. :p

After getting my Kershaw Zing at Wally World for $37 I'd say it is a pretty damn good value!
