Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent folder (non liner-lock) for around $150, this is pretty much my limit

. My favorite so far has been the BM 720, but if there is something better I sure would like to hear about it. Thank you.

Microtech full size SOCOM. If you want to go down to the $100 range a Spyderco Starmate or Benchmade M2 AFCK.

Whoa, you said NO liner lock. Maybe a Buck 110, a Carnivour... no experience with either, though I have a Sifu and it locks great.

No liner-lock because I am left handed, but if they make a LH version of the knife you recomend then I guess I might give it a try

I suggest getting an M2 BM Stryker black T and combo edge

go to SKYLANDS CUTLERY FOR IT they have great prices

If you won't consider a liner lock, then get a Carnivour. The SOCOM is $209 and, given Microtech's, ahem, "fair" pricing policy, you probably won't find a new one any less expensive. My Carnivour is rock solid and looks like it could carve rocks. It locks with NO play at all. I have been a Spydie man, myself. I love my StarMate and my Military, but they are liner locks, albeit very very good ones. I have a Pardue Axis 720 on order and am panting to get it. M<ore later. I won the Carnivour in a BF drawing.

No lefty SOCOM, here's an older Spyderco Mariner that's a lefty - if the guy still has it ....go to :
http://www.omgknives.com/older.htm

Bottom of the page....

865Z-8. Spyderco "Mariner" model. 4 & 3/4" closed, single blade lockback. Non-serrated blade! (Rare). LEFT-HANDED model. With clip (click HERE to see clip). MINT! $115.00

There's a Lefty Forum on another forum facility, you might try there too!

Pete's Custom shop at Buck Knives will put together a very nice 110 (lockback) with a wide choice of handles, brass or nickel silver bolsters and a choice of steel ....including BG42 !!
Around your price range, too.
Some time early next year, I am ordering a stag and BG42 example.

Rob231 -- Amen! I am not big on Benchmade, but that would be a sweet knife!

The Axis was my suggestion and there are several to choose from -- the full-size 710, the smaller 705, and the Mel Pardue 720.

I'm going to agree with the Benchmade 710 Axis.I've had mine about 3 months and its becoming my most carried knife

Benchmade 710. Great lock, and very lefty friendly.

I would whole-heartedly recommend the BM 720. I just had a second one bought right out of my tool bag by a left hander.

I'm very impressed with Boyes Dendritic cobalt folders, Been thinking about buying one myself. My best friend swears by his and he's hard as hell on knives.

Full size Axis lock. Ambi-lock release and clip can be swapped from one side to the other.

Spyderman,
I am also a lefty and so far my favorite knives would be:

BM 710 Axis -Fantastic
BM 720 Axis (keep in mind the clip isn't reversible but I drilled and tapped the other side for left-handed tip-up carry and now it is perfect)
REKAT Carnivour (you can get one left handed from REKAT directly but it will top the $150 by about $20)

Let us know what you decide on.
