Best folder for $50 or under

+1 for the Dragonfly 2. I have it in ZDP-189 and it's a laser. Fits my big hands much better than some larger knives.

I'll also put a word in for the Spyderco Byrd Meadowlark 2, which I just picked up. Fit and feel of a Delica, same reliable steel as your Tenacious, a fraction of the price of either. It's my new EDC even though I own several significantly 'better' folding knives.

I just ordered my Ontario Rat-1 for about $30 on amazon and think it will be a truly great value. You really can't go wrong with a Kershaw like the Shallot or Skyline though.

Cold Steel - American Lawman. Rock solid with great ergonomics.
Spyderco - Dragonfly 2. I have always been interested in this smaller knife.

I third the Cold Steel Voyager. With 50$ plus some changes, you might get the XL version!
The Large at 4" is around 40$ on Amazon too. The Tri Ad Lock is hard use rated and the Voyager comes with liner, clip for both left and right hand carry.

And seconded the Resilience. A lot of people are happy with Military, despite the blade length. Resilience is only slightly bigger, with same form factor.

How about an Opinel: reasonable pricing, sharp as a razor and you still got some bucks left buy a book or a couple of beers... :D

For about fifty bucks you could score a Kershaw crown.and a buck 119.
I EDC that combo daily on the job.
Bucks 420c has an excellent HT and makes for a very nice blade.
Other options mentioned are also excellent too.
Rat 1 is a screaming good deal for the asking price.

Why are you not into back locks? I agree with the earlier post, don't drink coffee for like 5 days (depending how you get your coffee (or whatever luxury item)) and get a native. It's awesome. Super light, nice length for edc, frn is super strong and flexible (I like it as much or better than g10), and the pin design is actually nice. I've used mine for some serious stuff, actually stuff you probably shouldn't use a folder for, and it is still rock solid. I had a rat 1, carried and used it like I did (do still) my native, and it developed blade play bad enough that I was worried it would fail. This is after like two weeks or something. So it is a good deal if you're only doing light stuff, but for work/outside type stuff I was unimpressed. (one of the smoothest opening and best ergonomic knives I've held though) and that reminds me that the native has the best ergonomics of anything I've held (at least for me, every hand is different).
