Best Folder for under $50

Honestly I'd try to find a blem from kershawguy or look at a pawnshop for the most bang for the buck. IMO, if you are going to use it, you probably won't mind some blemishes or marks from use.

Go to the exchange and buy a Composite JYD2 from Kershawguy, for $39 shipped the CPMD2 steel and flipper will be a much better value that anything else mentioned here.
That does sound like a good deal! Is it a blemish? I couldn't find a thread/post with a JYD2, with a composite blade, for $39. Do you remember what thread/post you saw that in? Thanks!

Tenacious all the way. Large beefy blade w' flat grind for great cutting ability. Open frame feature for ease of cleaning after doing the dirty jobs. G10 handles for heft and durability. 4 way clip positioning, etc, etc. All for about 35 bones. Comes razor sharp out of the box and sharpens easily.

YOU could pick up a kershaw avalanche for $50.00 at smoky mountain knife works. Imho, the best knife for the money,, s30 blade. g10scales..speed safe assisted opening and a liner lock..and backed up by a great company and warrenty. plus free sharpening for the life of the knife...how can you beat that, IF this knife was put out by a company like spyderco or benchmade...It would easily sell for over one hundred dollars.

I liked my d2 jyd2 at 1st. But after carrying it around I realized its way too big for my cutting tasks, way over kill. It holds an edge forever though. I would get a tenatious or rat1. Probably the rat1.

I very much doubt that you can beat the Avalanche for value and quality at the OP's price point. The S30V blade with a DLC coating is worth the price alone. Throw in those grippy G-10 slabs over full bead blasted satin liners and you are over the top. Needless to say, Kershaw's fit & finish is beyond reproach.

You can find Kershaw Cyclones and Mini-Cyclones for well under $50 from eBay stores - solid steel (imho, a cut above the steel used on most budget knives) and build quality.

Victorinox is always a good choice - really inexpensive, good quality.

+1 on the ontario rat 1! Super affordable but really high quality. Solid lock up!

cons: you may need to adjust the pivot screw in the beginning, but after your done it'll deploy like lightning. The handle is a little slick.

If you can find Buck Vantage Pro under $50 its excellent. They sell $45-55. S30V with Bos heattreat. Now that kicks Spyderco Tenacious butt clearly. However Tenacious you can get for $30-35 so its clearly cheaper and excellent knife with around AUS-8 blade steel.

My best deal knives have been:
Kershaw Mini-Cyclone for $28,95 in clear out sale after it was discontinued
Buck Vantage Pro for $49,95. Excellent knife. Good blade steel (S30V), good heat treatment, comfy, lowriding pocket clip. G-10 handles.
