Looking for a new EDC under $250. Currently my EDC rotation is a Spyderco Manix2 LW with S110V, a Dragonfly 2 with a G10 handle (primarily for dress pants), and finally a ZT 0562CF. Looking for something maybe not so mainstream.

Its been a very good week at work and daddy deserves a new toy!

Recommendations?

You don't say anything about your personal preferences, so I'm shooting blind here but the Reate Horizon C and District 9 are hard to beat if there your style.

Hogue EX-04 with wharncliffe is one bad ass knife that you don't see too often.
Smooth as oiled glass, great lock and built like a sexy tank!!
Real cool blade!

Have you thought about getting a more 'outdoor'-dedicated knife? Something a little tougher that will also ECD well? Maybe a DPx folder...a higher end HEST 2.0 maybe?

You're also in Emerson range.

If you want something different what about a Combative Edge M1?

For more EDC type work there is a new Benchmade 940 in 20CV (similar to M390). It's a dealer exclusive from KW.

Big knife and baby knives. Here is my favorite...Spyderco Sage 2, 3" blade in S30V, titanium blades.
Is easily in your money range.

Not sure how big you're willing to go. But I'd recommend the Spyderco Ti Military. I belief it can be bought brand new @ $215.

The Sage 2 (my EDC folder) is a great choice, or maybe a Benchmade 940/943. A bit mainstream, but it's hard to make a recommendation without knowing your tastes. The Lionsteel suggestion is a good one, or you can get a decent custom fixed-blade starting at around that price.

Benchmade Contego
Emerson (take your pick, they are all around the $200+ mark now)
More ZTs never hurts
Pohl Force has a lot of very nice offerings
Spyderco's are going to the $200+ range now too
Lionsteel has a lot of good stuff

Have Walter Wells make you a folder. Certainly not mainstream, well made and great heat treat. He will work with your input, really makes it "your" knife.
He uses tool steels and stainless, whatever floats your boat. I have one in A2 and it is a cutter.

How about a Kizer Tomcot..?
