Wow, thank you for all the great suggestions! I updated the OP with a list of knives that I must now research before getting the Tenacious...

Any others I should consider?

I'm a Kershaw fan, too, in that price range, but my favorite is the Needs Work model, w/Wharncliffe blade. Made in USA, too.
