I've got right around 4 bills set aside for a new folder and just dont have time to do the research...I own a ton of fixed blades and quite a few folders that run under $100 bucks...but they all have little things that annoy me about each one..Here's the features im looking for..
NO benchmade or spyderco!!! lol i want something different...something cool.

Non serrated is a must..and no hard to sharpen funky ass curves on the main edge!
A frame lock mechanism thats beefy but doesent kill your thumb to release.
Opens and closes like butter but feels really solid at the same time.
A neat looking pocket clip is a big plus...it always grabs my attention anyway:D
And last but not least a good handle to blade size ratio...nothing bugs me more than a huge handle and a small blade or vice versa..

On second thought...to me this would be the The holy grail of folders.Mabey i could get a custom knife maker to build my dream knife and call it his design...Ive never held a folder that fit all 5 of my wants..any thoughts?

Get yourself a custom...Also not a good idea to throw a jerkit in your 2nd post on these forums. Both those brands are well respected and have strong presence here.

I think you should also specify if you want a right or left handed liner lock, what materials you would like for handle and blade. What kind of hardware you want, torx, phillips, allan etc. What kind of curves you DO want, straight edge, roach belly. What kind of tip you prefer. clip, sheepsfoot, spearpoint, swedged etc.

There are a lot of clips out there, could you describe what kind of clip you want, and what material it should be made of?

You are obviously limiting what you can get while offering a mere $400 (USD?).

If you can get one at list from Rick, the XM18 is amazing for the money. Otherwise, check out the Sebenza, SNG, SMF, Umnumzaan if you want a production blade. Custom is a whole 'nother matter. I personally love Kirby Lambert, RJ Martin, Dustin Turpin, Les George, Sniper Blade Works, and Yuna for custom folders...

I am going to suggest Chris English and Z Custom Knives i own one of his smaller tactical autos and i am very very impressed with it for the money. the larger autos i seen by him sold for 300 - 325. I know that production stuff goes for a little more, however i would rather endorse a custom maker! I dont know your style how ever he does make a larger tactical style auto like this http://www.arizonacustomknives.com/products/?id=3171 He also makes some Fancier stuff as well!

here is his personal Phone number 706-648-6873

more of his peices, he does also have a home cite.

ps i decline to endorse arizona custom knives, I have no experience with them maybe other members can endorse there reputation i used the for illustration purposes only

True, but there are some models of spyderco and BM's that very few have... like a blue manix 2, or an m4 ritter grip with wilkins scales (ALMOST HERE...)... probably fewer of those than XM18's in the world today.

sounds like CRK is what your looking for...maybe a sebenza or a umnumzaan:thumbup::D:D:D

Good sense of humor! My recommendation is a Strider, just because I like Ti framelocks and funky handle designs coupled with leaf shaped blades.
You can get a decent one for around $325-$400.

I've thought of ridding myself of a couple of my nicer knives for a Strider.

I didnt list every possible feature because i know how hard that would be to find...but here goes..just for you!

right handed
flat ground drop point blade
torx hardware
s30v for the blade
titanium handle with white micarta inlays
and would spend more if it something like this....

Hi wheelspeed -

You just nailed the description of the A.G. Russell Acies.

I have had mine since Valentines Day this year.

I love it - it has all the features you describe, and includes a Hinderer type lock over-travel stop, a unique leaf-shaped blade of ZDP-189 with a solid titanium frame-lock.

Here are a couple of pictures for you:

Yeah, I've got the A.G Russell Acies on my short list as well, sooner or later I have to have one.

+1 - if you get one directly from Rick it's $385 + $10 for shippingso you'll be just under your budget. There may be a lot of other options, but the XM-18 is a great knife. I'd recommend the 3.5" flipper.

CRK umnumzaan, CRK large sebenza, strider SnG,

those all fit your criteria and are very high quality blades.

I'll throw in a vote for the Fallkniven PXL. It definitely fits all of your criteria and the fit and finish is as good or better than knives costing twice as much.

Available in ivory or maroon micarta scales.
