Best folders with a deployment hole.

AFCK, Mini Bone Collector, and Kershaw E.T. are my three favorites

btw guys im not saying i dont want a spyderco, im just looking for an edc with a deployment hole and i dont need the spyderco's pointed out to me because i already know they have a thumb hole.

I have a Surefire dart that has a deployment slot. Works just as good as a hole. Good little EDC.

Strider sng, smf, or SJ-75. The also is the Emerson CQC-10, Benchmade onslaughts or the griptilian series and a few discontinued Benchmade's. Last if you dont want to spend a lot look at the SOG sogzillas they are basically a copy of the Endura/Delica series.

I've owned these mini-AFCK's for longer than any of my other modern folders. I like them and they work well. I also have a PM2 that works very well and is smoother opening than almost any of my other knives. The thing I don't like about the PM2 is the height of its blade, especially compared to the AFCK. I don't mind thumb studs either but the thumb hole, especially a big one like the PM2, is a lot more foolproof for quick opening.

I have to say, I think the 5.11 folding karambit wins the prize, at least in my book. Especially with the zip tie mod.

I'll take the hole over the standard blade on the BM Grips any day. I suppose the standard blade is probably a bit tougher, but I don't pry much with my pocket knife. The grind on mine is uneven side to side, but it doesn't bother me a bit.

I was going to zip tie this when I deployed, but I sat there looking at my worksharp belt sharpener and figured what the hell. Saw a video on youtube that gave me the idea. The modded hole is better in every single way, including making it easier to thumb deploy while wearing gloves.

This little $55 gem has become my second favorite knife, I carry it and my Busse Active Duty every day over here and it is stupid fast out of my pocket and very sharp... oh and no rust no matter how sweaty it gets.

My Deimos is my favorite knife with a hole. I don't care for the traditional Spyderhole, but the teardrop shaped hole on the Deimos is so easy to manipulate.

Only pic I have of it atm.

I can understand your desire for an opening hole instead of a thumb stud or similar protruding device; it allows full use of all the blade's surface and also permits ambidextrous handling when necessary.

If you're looking for alternatives to Spyderco, I can suggest the CRKT Nirk Tighe models. The full line of Nirk Tighe and Nirk Tighe 2 offers models in 5-1/4", 4-1/4", 4", 3-1/4" blade lengths. These knives can also be opened using the flipper, and the grip pressure on the handle is transferred to the locking device in a way that is meant to increase locking pressure. They're available in the $80 to $120 range, depending on blade size.

I don't have any of these models but had some experience in the field with the 4" model owned by a friend, and was very impressed with the performance, quality, and design.

About the Benchmade sheepsfoot:

I have a 555HG (mini-grip). The shape is really useful. I bought it mainly for the blade shape, I didn't even know what a mini-grip was when I bought it. My only beef with the blade is the hollow saber grind. I'd rather have a full grind. But the edge is nice and thin (<0.015") for a production folder, so it sharpens very quickly.
