  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Best folding knife lock types

Axis lock. In the context of my 940 943 950 707, it's an instinctively easy lock to use and so easy to do the flicky one hand opening/closing thing.

Caged ball lock. Similar in use to the Axis lock but a stronger spring pressure to pull against.

Compression lock. Not ambidextrous, but then neither am I.

Unfortunately the tri-ad lock is the strongest! Like it or not being biased won't change that.

I only own one lock knife , a backlock gerber e-z-out.Had it around twenty years, still going strong.

Tri-ad, I just wish we could have it on a USA made production folder with a steel that has better edge retention than aus 8.

Second favorites are liner and frame locks.

I like well made Ti framelocks like the ones made by Rick Hinderer & Chris Reeve. They are simple, very little moving parts, easily cleaned & strong enough for anything I would put a folder through.

Pretty much this. I've owned a ton of folders over the last few years and for me, nothing beats a high quality (IKBS) framelock. I find framelocks to be the most ergonomic/easiest to disengage, they allow for thin handles and are low maintenance as JTR said.
