Best fondling production knife?

depends on what type of fondling. if I just want to admire the scales and blade I generally prefer a traditional like a GEC or opinel. nohing beats wood, bone, and carbon steel for that feel.

for opening and closing probably my spyderco military or opinel. The framelock Millie produces a more substantial clunk when opened compared to the liner lock, and the other scale being g10 produces interesting acoustics. The opinel is very fun to sit and open one handed, the resistance on mine is low enough to where I can thumb it open like it had a thumb stud or opening hole.

Blur - just something about how it fits in hand and the satisfying *thunk* you get when it locks open
Griptilian - Axis lock is a fun one to play with
Delica - slightly more involved motion to do the one-handed closing

My favorite to knife to fondle is my ZT 0550

Anyone that has 550 & 560 which do you prefer playing with? I know they are two different opening systems, but curious how smooth that 550 is because it looks like a tank. Im breaking in a 560 and while it's fun that jimping by the flipper is making my city hands cry.

Fondling only category:

For opening and closing, this is the smoothest evaaa (and it is not a flipper!):

The swindle is a pretty good deal too, I really like the aesthetics of it and it's bigger than the ripple. Not as ergonomic for cutting though.

wow just googled the swindle looks sweet - clip is perfect for me because i work in an office setting.

^Locutus - beautiful stuff right there.. wish i could afford a hinderer!

My Ti Millie has a nice clunk sound when flicked open which I like. My ZT0350 on the other hand, has the most intimidating sound with its assist in any fold that I've owned. It's quite addicting.

This 100%! For me, my bedlam and TUFF are two that are favs. The bedlam because it is very smooth and opens and closes very easily with a succint click open/closed very quickly. The TUFF because it locks up like a bank vault and requires a focused thumb to close it one handed due to me adjusting the lockup. It's not for the faint of heart or for those with weak thumbs... ;)

Spyderco Southard. Nothing's more fun than opening ball-bearing, non-AO flippers in my book. You can find Southards on the Exchange for $200.00, so that falls within your price spectrum. And I also subscribe to this caveat 100%:

I will add that unless stopped in traffic trying to multitask while driving is dangerous to yourself and others. Doing ANYTHING but driving increases the chance of an accident enormously.

Playing with a knife while driving doesn't sound like a very good idea (for you AND other drivers).

Among the ones mentioned above, I love the nice lock-up sound of my Spyderco Nilakka :-D
