best framelock for $50 or less?

Kershaw Vapor II ? I like it, it's just the right size for me (the smaller model doesn't fit my hand that well). The best part is you can get almost two of these for $50 :)

I going to say the Junk Yard Dog when it hits the stores. I handled a JYDII yesterday and it is a great knife and it took all i had in me not to buy one but i'm waiting for to smaller version.

I don't know how much a JYD is. The only inexpensive framelock I own, is the Spyderco Spin. And I believe it IS in your price range!

I think you can get a Kershaw Groove that is an R.J.Martin design for around 50 bucks. Also the Tim Galyean designed JunkYardDog if you want a smaller frame lock at less than 50 bucks. For that matter both the Kershaw Storms I and II have a great price point and are good reliable users in frame locks

You know technically some of the Spyderco compression locks built like the ATR but priced cheaper are still frame locks so if that turns you on don't forget to look them over.

Honestly though for the money you want to spend I doubt you would be much happier with anything once you see a Kershaw Groove or JYD. These are actually better quality than some of the 150 plus dollar frame locks I've handled and because they are built of hardened stainless steel vs titanium they are sure stonger too.

Camillus CUDA EDC ($25) isn't bad

I would have to add the CRKT S-2, if it can still be found for under $50. Mine has been a great knife. I'll also second the Storm II and the Camillus EDC.

The Kershaw Leek can be bought for slightly more. Its well worth it.For a lot less money the Buck Mayo's that are made in China are a good deal.I was afraid of the "made in China" but the quality surprised me.The blade was centered, opened smooth, blade sharp, handle radiused all around for a comfortable grip. The only thing I did'nt like was the double thumb studs are longer than they should be.When I take the knife out of my back pocket the thumb stud gets caught on the top of the pocket. If the clip was set up for blade up carry it might be used as a wave like opening.

Already have a Leek, personall customzed actually. G-10 half and steel framelock w/ s30v blade. I combined one of the S30V g-10 ones with a normal framelock one. Do a search and you will find picks.

I do like the groove a lot.

Anybody have any experience with the CRKT "Kommer Full Throttle" or "My Tighe"

Boker "Trance" also looks interesting and opinions are welcome.

The Kommer Full Throttle is a solid, nice knife. the AUS-8A on my knife is good and hard. I would guess 60hrc. It uses PB washers and the Gun Coat finish is hard and well done. i have the A/O version andit opens nice and strong. I would label this knife, good and solid.

I loved the Trance, but it didn't hold up to my knife expectations.

I am still happy with my Trance. It bumped my Boker Subcom, being slightly larger although it's still a compact knife. Very handy, very ergonomic.

ginshun asked about framelocks, half the suggestions are for linerlocks.

Buck Hilo is one suggestion I might offer.

If you're in hurry, buy BM Monocrome and Kershaw Storm. Both are great knives, but the Kershaw JYD will also hit the stores soon. I will buy one for myself for sure.

The Monochrome.. excellent framlock for the price.. try to get the older ones with the N690 blade instead of the 440C.
