Best grind for a survival/combat blade

It must not be a scandi. I've seen a lot of combat blade videos and no historic scandis. Most modern combat knives I've seen are ground high. They're not ground past the spine. They're thick and narrow. The German army's American tanto is the only scandi one I know of.

The fighting knife will be thicker and worse at cutting than the other blades in your kit. For cutting wood, have a hatchet and a few thin scandi blades of varous thicknesses.

What kind of camping do you do? If you are backpacking (or carrying a ruck) then the saying goes, "Ounces are pounds, pounds are pain." You sound like you want something specific to your needs, and weight should be a consideration if you are not simply car camping.

Edit: I only now noticed the previous post pointing out that the thread is rather old. OP, did you survive?

Hollow Grind.
Parts material well, easy to sharpen/maintain without access to more sophisticated sharpening equipment, functional and efficient.
I will second this.
If it’s thick enough behind the edge, it’ll have no issues to be used hard out in the field.
Plus, you’ll be able to sharpen with the same angle/profile much longer than flat/FF or any other grind.
