Best Grinder Belts For The $

No I don't know about the + sign. Mine have double arrows (either direction).

I think I just need to dress these belts because I'm not using enough pressure or surface speed for them to fracture in use. I've ordered a diamond dresser and now that I'm thinking about it, I used to dress relief in grinding wheels with a Norbide stick and I wonder if that would work for these belts.

The other issue I had this weekend was tracking. One belt in particular was removing material just fine for a period of time, and then like a light switch quit tracking predictably. I could get it to track directly on the platen, but when trying to hang off the right side, it wouldn't move, wouldn't move, wouldn't move, then bam slides over .300". Sometimes while I was working the plunge which really caused me some grief.

Changed belts, problem went away.

lol. I didn't know about the +sign either on the 984s'at first, my son told. Then I asked Pop and he said the grit is directional and cut's about 15% more aggressive in the direction of the + sign. You can feel the sharpness difference with you hand.

lol what the hell. I will revisit those belts tonight! Thanks for the tip Don.
